Inter Kashi started an all-Indian XI, and Chiki’s winner gave FC Goa their first ISL win of the season

FC Goa had drawn both their home games to start the ISL season. They won the third on Sunday, 2-1 against Inter Kashi at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune, with Francisco Feuillassier scoring in the first half and Chiki getting the winner in the 66th minute.

Inter Kashi, who started with an all-Indian side, had equalised through Sumeet Passi early in the second half. They are still bottom of the table, with one point from four matches.

Franchu scores one and makes one

Inter Kashi had the better of the opening stages, and Goa took a while to settle. Their opener came just past the half-hour. Isak Ralte drove at the defence, turned away from his marker and set up Feuillassier, known as Franchu, who side-footed into the bottom corner. Five minutes later Ralte tried to float one into the far corner himself and missed it by very little.

Inter Kashi were level five minutes into the second half. Rosenberg Gabriel crossed from the right, and Passi finished past a flat-footed Bob Jackson in the Goa goal.

Franchu then made the winner. He threaded a pass through the Inter Kashi lines for the substitute Muhammed Nemil, who squared it across Albino Gomes as the goalkeeper came out, and Chiki scored past Pratik Chaudhary’s attempt to block. It was the Spaniard’s second league goal of the season. His first had earned the 1-1 draw with Chennaiyin on 10 October. The other draw, against SC Delhi on 28 October, needed Alex Vallejo’s equaliser five minutes into stoppage time.

Gouramangi sent off

Goa’s head coach Gouramangi Singh was sent off late in the game for kicking the ball away to hold up a restart. His side were still only a goal up, and he saw out their first win of the season away from the bench.

The three points lift Goa to sixth on five points from three games. Mohun Bagan lead with nine from four.

Next up
