Jemimah Rodrigues is fit again, a year to the day after her 127 against Australia
Jemimah Rodrigues has been cleared after three months out with a hamstring tear, and she is set to play for Mumbai before India pick their squad for the South Africa tour.

Jemimah Rodrigues picked a good day to say she was fit again. On 30 October 2025 she made 127 not out against Australia in the World Cup semi-final in Navi Mumbai. On Friday, 30 October 2026, she posted on Instagram that her hamstring had been “declared fit” after three months of rehab. “Now I can’t wait to get going,” she wrote.
She has not played since 3 August, and India have won a lot without her in that time.
Three months out
Rodrigues hurt her right hamstring playing for Southern Brave in The Hundred in Cardiff. The BCCI medical team found a high-grade tear, which ruled her out of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE and the Asian Games in Japan. India won both. She also missed the home series against Zimbabwe, which India won 3-0 in the ODIs and 3-0 in the T20Is.
Her last game for India was the one-off Test against England at Lord’s, which India won by 270 runs on 13 July. Her last T20I was the six-wicket defeat to Australia at Lord’s on 28 June, the result that knocked India out of the T20 World Cup in the group stage.
Where she fits back in
That is the awkward part of a long injury. The side kept winning without her, the selectors have had three months of other people’s runs to look at, and they tend to reward whoever is in the team when it is going well.
Her own record is hard to ignore, though. She has 2,824 T20I runs at a strike rate of 119, the fourth-highest total for India, and the 127 in Navi Mumbai anchored the highest successful chase in women’s ODI history, 341 for 5 to beat Australia’s 338. Selectors do not forget an innings like that because of one torn hamstring.
The next stop is likely domestic cricket. With no international or franchise commitments right now, she is expected to play for Mumbai in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy before the selectors pick the squad for South Africa.
The South Africa tour
India go to South Africa in December for a one-off Test, three ODIs and three T20Is. The Test at St George’s Park in Gqeberha starts on 9 December. If Rodrigues gets a few innings in for Mumbai and her hamstring holds up, she should be right back in the conversation.
