Harsh Dubey career stats
These are his figures in every format from ESPNcricinfo, read on 3 November 2026. The first-class row does not yet include the Madhya Pradesh match in Nagpur, which was still going on.
| Format | Mat | Wkts | Bowl ave | Best | Runs | Bat ave | HS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ODI | 2 | 4 | 21.25 | 3/47 | – | – | – |
| First-class | 32 | 158 | 22.51 | 6/36 | 1,211 | 25.22 | 84 |

| T20 | 38 | 34 | 25.85 | 3/12 | 177 | 14.75 | 53* |
The first-class numbers are the ones that matter. In those 32 matches he had nine five-wicket hauls and two ten-wicket matches, and he was taking a wicket every 44.8 balls. The nine in Nagpur take him to 167 wickets and change his best figures from 6 for 36 to 9 for 53.
The 9 for 53 against Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh chose to bat at the VCA Stadium in Jamtha and were bowled out for 209. Dubey bowled 23.1 overs, four of them maidens, and took every wicket except the first, which went to Nachiket Bhute. Rajat Patidar, the MP captain, was one of the nine, for 2. No Vidarbha bowler had taken nine in a Ranji innings before. The old Vidarbha best was Arun Ogiral’s 8 for 39, also against Madhya Pradesh, in 1967-68. Our report from the first day has the wicket-by-wicket detail.
The nine took his tally for the 2026-27 season to 23. He had already taken 6 against Puducherry in Nagpur, 3 in Srinagar against Jammu and Kashmir, the defending champions, where he also helped Vidarbha home from 26 for 6 in a chase of 79, and 5 against Goa back in Nagpur. That is 23 wickets in three and a half matches. For the ground itself, see our VCA Stadium Nagpur records page.
The record: 69 wickets in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy
The 2024-25 season was his first full one in the Vidarbha side. He got the place after the left-arm spinner Aditya Sarwate moved to Kerala as a professional, and he took 69 wickets in 10 matches.
The record came in the final, against Kerala in Nagpur. On the third day he drew level with Ashutosh Aman’s 68 for Bihar in 2018-19, then dismissed MD Nidheesh in the final session for the 69th. He finished that innings with 3 for 88. Aman’s wickets had come in the Plate Group, and Dubey’s all came against Elite Group sides, which is worth knowing when people compare the two.
He also made 476 runs that season and was named player of the tournament. The final was drawn and Vidarbha won the title on a 37-run first-innings lead, their third Ranji Trophy after 2017-18 and 2018-19.
How Harsh Dubey got here
He was born in Pune and moved around as a child, because his father was in the CISF and was transferred every few years. The family lived in Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata and Guwahati before settling in Nagpur. Shortly before the pandemic his father turned down another transfer and gave up the job so that his son could keep playing, according to an ESPNcricinfo profile from February 2025.
He started out as an opening batter. The bowling is what got him noticed at age-group level, and part of it was shaped in Chennai. R Ashwin heard about him from the Vidarbha seamer Rajneesh Gurbani, looked him up on YouTube and asked him to play for his club, Mylapore Recreational Club, in the Chennai league. He had played four seasons there by early 2025. In the same profile he said his batting came on in Nagpur and his bowling in Chennai, which is a neat way of describing a career split across two cities.
He made his List A debut on 28 February 2021 and his first-class debut against Jammu and Kashmir in Nagpur in December 2022.
Harsh Dubey for India
The Ranji record got him into India’s ODI squad for the home series against Afghanistan. He made his debut in Dharamsala on 13 June 2026 and took 3 for 47, and his three wickets were Hashmatullah Shahidi, Azmatullah Omarzai and AM Ghazanfar. He added 1 for 38 in Chennai on 20 June. Those are his only two internationals so far.
Since then he has played red-ball cricket for India A against Sri Lanka A in Galle, and taken 4 for 66 and 4 for 53 for Central Zone against East Zone in Bengaluru at the end of August. He was not picked in either of the squads India named on 16 October for the ODIs and Tests in New Zealand, where the Test squad has Ravindra Jadeja as its left-arm fingerspinner. With performances like the one in Nagpur, I would expect his name to come up the next time India pick a Test squad for home conditions.
Harsh Dubey in the IPL
Sunrisers Hyderabad signed him in May 2025 as an injury replacement for Smaran Ravichandran, for a reported Rs 30 lakh. He made his IPL debut against Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow on 19 May 2025 and played three games that season.
Across 2025 and 2026 he has played 11 IPL matches and taken 13 wickets at an economy rate of 10.18. His best is 3 for 12 in two overs against Delhi Capitals in Hyderabad on 21 April 2026. The economy rate is the number he has to bring down, and it is a very different job from the long spells that win Ranji matches.
