Arshdeep Singh stats: T20I, ODI and IPL record of India’s leading T20I wicket-taker
No Indian bowler has taken more T20I wickets than Arshdeep Singh. His record in every format, year by year, at three T20 World Cups and across eight IPL seasons with Punjab Kings.
Nov 8, 2026
Arshdeep Singh has 151 wickets in 104 T20 internationals, 25 more than any other Indian bowler, and he got there in a little over four years. He also has 34 wickets in 20 ODIs and 111 in 96 IPL matches, all of them for Punjab Kings, the only franchise he has played for. This week that may be about to change: reports on 7 November said Punjab Kings were trading him to Mumbai Indians for Hardik Pandya. The numbers below cover every format and run to 8 November 2026.

India’s leading T20I wicket-taker
Arshdeep went past Yuzvendra Chahal’s India record of 96 against England at Eden Gardens on 22 January 2025, his 61st T20I, and in September 2025 he became the first Indian to take 100 T20I wickets, against Oman in Abu Dhabi during the Asia Cup. That was his 64th T20I. His 150th came in his 103rd, in Auckland on 30 October 2026.
| Bowler | Span | Mat | Wkts | Ave | Econ | SR |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Arshdeep Singh | 2022-2026 | 104 | 151 | 20.74 | 8.67 | 14.3 |
| Jasprit Bumrah | 2016-2026 | 100 | 126 | 18.21 | 6.52 | 16.7 |
| Axar Patel | 2015-2026 | 116 | 116 | 23.51 | 7.76 | 18.1 |
| Hardik Pandya | 2016-2026 | 138 | 114 | 27.13 | 8.34 | 19.5 |
| Kuldeep Yadav | 2017-2026 | 56 | 98 | 14.20 | 7.10 | 11.9 |
The last two columns explain the gap. Bumrah concedes more than two runs an over fewer, and Kuldeep strikes more often in far fewer games, but Arshdeep has bowled more overs than either of them and takes a wicket every 14.3 balls. Worldwide he is joint ninth on the all-time list, level with Mitchell Santner on 151, and of the ten bowlers with 150 or more, only Rashid Khan and Wanindu Hasaranga strike more often (13.7 balls each).
T20Is year by year
| Year | Mat | Wkts | Ave | Econ | Best |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | 21 | 33 | 18.12 | 8.17 | 4/37 |
| 2023 | 21 | 26 | 24.46 | 9.26 | 3/20 |
| 2024 | 18 | 36 | 13.50 | 7.49 | 4/9 |
| 2025 | 12 | 15 | 24.00 | 8.85 | 3/35 |
| 2026 | 32 | 41 | 25.68 | 9.25 | 5/51 |
2024 was the outlier: 36 wickets in 18 games at 13.50. 2026 has been the busiest year by some distance, with 32 games, and at 9.25 an over it has been almost as expensive as 2023. His only T20I five-for, 5 for 51, came against New Zealand in Thiruvananthapuram on 31 January 2026.
At the T20 World Cup
| Edition | Mat | Wkts | Ave | Econ |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 (Australia) | 6 | 10 | 15.60 | 7.80 |
| 2024 (West Indies and USA) | 8 | 17 | 12.65 | 7.17 |
| 2026 (India and Sri Lanka) | 8 | 9 | 28.22 | 8.47 |
| Total | 22 | 36 | 17.36 | 7.81 |
The 2024 tournament made his name. He took 17 wickets, level with Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi for the most at that World Cup, including 4 for 9 against the USA in New York, and finished with 2 for 20 in the final against South Africa. His 36 World Cup wickets are the second-most by an Indian, behind Bumrah’s 40.
ODIs: 34 wickets in 20 games
The 50-over side has used him far less. His best series came in South Africa in December 2023: 10 wickets in three ODIs, starting with 5 for 37 at the Wanderers on 17 December. In New Zealand this month he took 4 for 70 at Eden Park on 4 November, then bowled seven overs for 16 without a wicket in Wellington three days later. His ODI economy rate of 5.44 is the cheapest of his three formats.
IPL: every season for Punjab Kings

| 2026 | 14 | 14 | 38.64 | 10.20 | 3/22 |
Punjab were called Kings XI Punjab until 2021. His only IPL five-for, 5 for 32 against Rajasthan Royals in Dubai in September 2021, came in his best season by average. His most wickets in a season, 21, came in 2025, when Punjab reached the final under Shreyas Iyer.
The IPL has always been the hardest format for him. He concedes 9.18 an over there against 8.67 in T20Is, and he averages 28.02 in the IPL against 20.74 for India. 2026 was his worst season by average (38.64) and, apart from three games as a debutant in 2019, his most expensive, at 10.20 an over. Punjab released him before the 2025 mega auction and then paid ₹18 crore to buy him back, using their Right to Match card after Sunrisers Hyderabad had pushed the bidding that high.
The reported trade to Mumbai Indians
On 7 November, Cricinfo reported that Mumbai Indians were set to trade Hardik Pandya to Punjab Kings in exchange for Arshdeep, and a PTI report quoted an IPL source saying the deal had been done, pending BCCI ratification. Neither franchise had announced it by the morning of 8 November. If it goes through, Arshdeep would share the new ball at Mumbai with Jasprit Bumrah, his closest rival on India’s T20I list. Teams have until 17 November to name their retentions, and the auction is on 16 December. Our news story on the trade has the detail.
