Haaland and Ronaldo have never played against each other, and Norway meet Portugal in Oslo on Sunday
Haaland scored twice against Denmark while Ronaldo had a goal ruled out against Wales, and the Nations League now puts them on the same pitch at Ullevaal.

Cristiano Ronaldo has played international football since 2003, and Erling Haaland since 2019. They have never been on the same pitch. That changes at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo on Sunday, when Norway play Portugal in the Nations League with both sides on three points from one game.
Kick-off is 8.45pm local time, which is 12.15am on Monday in India.
Haaland did what Ronaldo could not on Thursday
The opening night went very differently for the two of them. Haaland scored twice in Norway’s 3-2 win over Denmark in Oslo, the first in the 18th minute and the winner in the 74th. Oscar Bobb had put Norway ahead after 14 minutes, and Denmark came back to 2-2 through Mikkel Damsgaard and Rasmus Hojlund before Haaland settled it.
Ronaldo, in Lisbon, had seven attempts against Wales and five of them missed the target. He also had a goal ruled out for offside after VAR looked at it. Portugal still won 1-0 through Joao Felix’s 22nd-minute goal, and they had 22 shots to Wales’ five, so nobody at the Estadio Jose Alvalade will be too worried about the result. The finishing is another matter.
I would not read too much into one bad night for a 41-year-old who has scored more international goals than anyone. But Portugal’s attack created enough against Wales to win comfortably, and they won by one.
Norway are without Wolfe
Norway finished the Denmark game with ten men. David Moller Wolfe was sent off in stoppage time for a second yellow card, so Stale Solbakken has to find a new left-back for Portugal.
There is also the defending in general. Norway gave up two goals at home to Denmark after leading 2-0, and Portugal will have noticed.
Ronaldo missed the last meeting too
These two countries do not play each other often. The last time was a friendly in Porto on 29 May 2016, a Euro 2016 warm-up that Portugal won 3-0 with goals from Ricardo Quaresma, Raphael Guerreiro and Eder. Ronaldo was not in the side that night. He was being rested after Real Madrid had won the Champions League the day before.
Denmark and Wales make up the rest of their League A group. Denmark host Wales in Copenhagen earlier on Sunday, so by kick-off in Oslo one or both of Norway and Portugal could already have company on three points. Whoever wins at Ullevaal will be on six, and top of the group.
