Frosinone scored four goals in Bergamo and Ghedjemis made three, and Alvini was still furious with a 4-4 draw
Romano Schmid scored twice and Fares Ghedjemis set up three as promoted Frosinone drew 4-4 at Atalanta, who have now gone three games without a win under Maurizio Sarri.

Frosinone went to Bergamo as a promoted side whose target is staying up. They scored inside the first minute and four times in all, and came away with a point. Massimiliano Alvini was not celebrating. Going to Bergamo, scoring four and not winning had left him furious, the Frosinone coach told reporters after Sunday’s 4-4 draw with Atalanta.
The point keeps Frosinone on 14 from eight games, sixth in Serie A and level on points with Juventus. Atalanta have 10 points and are 11th. They lost 3-2 at AC Milan on 18 October and 2-0 to Ajax in Amsterdam in the Conference League on Thursday, and they have now gone three games without a win.
Schmid scores twice before 20 minutes
Romano Schmid opened the scoring about 30 seconds in, after intercepting a loose pass as Atalanta tried to play out from the back. Nikola Krstović equalised in the 14th minute, running on to Charles De Ketelaere’s through ball and beating goalkeeper Lorenzo Palmisani one-on-one.
Three minutes later Schmid had his second. Fares Ghedjemis won a duel and laid the ball back, and Schmid side-footed it in.
Atalanta turned it round before half-time. Frosinone defender Cittadini was penalised for handball after a VAR review, and Éderson sent Palmisani the wrong way from the spot in the 32nd minute. Alvini felt the ball had come at Cittadini from too close to be a penalty, though he said it had to be accepted. Right on half-time Krstović turned in Davide Zappacosta’s cross from the right for 3-2.
Two goals in two minutes, then Terzić
The second half started the same way. Giacomo Calò levelled three minutes after the restart, set up by Ghedjemis. Two minutes later Atalanta were ahead again: Frosinone gave the ball away, De Ketelaere ran at the defence and Krstović laid it off for Elif Elmas to score.
Frosinone had the last word eight minutes from time. Ghedjemis cut the ball back and Aleksa Terzić, on at half-time, saw his shot take a deflection past Marco Carnesecchi. It was Ghedjemis’s third assist of the game.
That is how Alvini wants his team to play. “You shouldn’t wait, you have to impose yourselves,” he said. Against Atalanta it brought four goals and it left space at the other end, and he admitted that Atalanta’s fourth came from a mistake on the ball.
“We feared this fixture”
Maurizio Sarri did not pretend it had been a good day for Atalanta. “We gifted them two goals, plus there were two great strikes from them,” he said. He also said his side had feared the game because Frosinone were fresher, and he pointed out that Como, in his view the best passing side in Serie A, had lost 2-0 to them.
Atalanta were already without several injured players, among them Giorgio Scalvini, Isak Hien and Franck Kessié, and Raoul Bellanova went off with a new muscle problem before the half-hour. “Considering the current period of form and situation, we have to accept this result,” Sarri said.
Neither side has long to dwell on it. Both play again in midweek, Frosinone at home to Lecce and Atalanta away at Fiorentina, who are 18th.
