Unvarying identities can be perplexing at times. It can create an uproarious hoax when one of them is an actor, comedian, writer and TV personality, while the other is an athlete. Those familiar with recent media trends might have perceived the substance here, but for those who have not, we’ve taken the liberty of portraying an absolute pantomime of two Beckers separated only by an alphabet.
It all started back in July last year when Liverpool fans were wildly celebrating the arrival of their new goalkeeper, Alisson Becker (keep a close eye on the name), and a certain Alison Becker, sitting a continent apart, was left thrilled with the announcement.
Being a comedy sketch-writer, and having played the character Shauna Malwae-Tweep, a local newspaper reporter, in the comedy series Parks And Recreation, Alison (note the name) expressed her gratitude through an official announcement.

The grass has been greener since. She has openly accepted all the accolades and love received from the supporters – knowingly or unknowingly – and even took the liberty of correcting UEFA’s blunder while declaring the Champions League’s goalkeeper of the season.

Every inspiring story has a thorn in its way and for Alison, it was a calf injury that the goalkeeper sustained on the opening day of the 2019/20 Premier League season. The update, however, soon followed and the fans eventually had a huge sigh of relief.

Setbacks are a part and parcel of an athlete’s career, and they sometimes have to go against the moral grounds in order to do what’s best for their team, even when it’s against the ethics. Liverpool recently played Brighton at home and goalkeeper Alisson Becker had to handle the ball outside the box in order to deny the visiting team a clear goal. The job was partly done, but it came at an expense of a red card, meaning that he’d miss Wednesday’s Merseyside derby against Everton.
For Alison, a suspension means it’s time to get leisurely things done.
