Kerr and Henry rescue a tie at The Oval, and MI London are still winless
Amelia Kerr finished on 49 not out and Chinelle Henry hit 33 from 12 balls, and London Spirit could only find three runs from the last two deliveries. Four games into the women’s Hundred, MI London have not won any of them.

London Spirit needed four from the last two balls at The Oval on 29 July. Nadine de Klerk had just been caught by Amelia Kerr off Hayley Matthews with those two deliveries left, which handed the job to Deandra Dottin and Charlie Dean. They found three. Both sides finished on 151 and took two points each.
For MI London that counts as their best afternoon of the competition, which tells you how the first fortnight has gone. Four matches in, they have lost by seven wickets to Sunrisers Leeds, by 60 runs to Welsh Fire, by one run to Southern Brave, and now tied one. Two points, seventh of eight, and a net run rate of minus 1.379.
This is the franchise’s first season under the MI London name. Reliance Industries bought a 49 per cent stake in the old Oval Invincibles in December 2025, with Surrey keeping 51 per cent, and the rebrand put the team in line with Mumbai Indians sides in the IPL, SA20, ILT20, MLC and WPL. The Invincibles won five titles in five years across the men’s and women’s competitions. The women’s side has not won a game since the badge changed.
Twelve balls from Chinelle Henry
MI London were 96 for 4 after 77 balls, which was going nowhere. Kerr had come in at 35 for 2, with 28 balls gone, and was on 24 at the strategic timeout. Then Chinelle Henry walked out and hit 33 from 12, four fours and two sixes, and the pair put on an unbroken 55 in 23 balls to finish at 151 for 4.
Kerr ended on 49 not out from 32 balls with seven fours, most of her work done by opening up the off side. Hollie Armitage made 23 before being bowled by Marizanne Kapp, who was the pick of the Spirit bowlers with 2 for 24 from her 20 balls. Grace Harris bowled five balls for four runs and took a wicket. At the other end of that scale, de Klerk’s 20 balls cost 48.
Jones and Kelly had it won
Spirit lost Harris to the first ball of the reply, caught by Armitage off Henry, and it made no difference for a while. Amy Jones and Marie Kelly put on 50 in 34 balls, Kelly hitting six fours and a six in 45 from 28 to win the player-of-the-match award. She fell at 68 with 46 balls gone, caught by Henry off Kirstie Gordon.
Kapp then took 25 from 13 balls with two sixes and added 50 in 28 with Jones, and at 119 for 2 with 25 balls left the chase was under control. Matthews changed that. She had Kapp caught by Danielle Gregory, then removed de Klerk on the 98th ball, and Gordon accounted for Jones for 49 in between. Three wickets went down for 29 runs from there, which was the difference between winning and sharing it.
Where it leaves the table
A win in the Hundred is worth four points and a tie two, so Spirit stay fourth on six from three games, behind Southern Brave on 12, Manchester Super Giants on 10 and Trent Rockets on eight. MI London are seventh on two, level with Birmingham Phoenix, whose net run rate of minus 7.768 comes from one heavy defeat and one washout.
Spirit play Southern Brave on 1 August. MI London have to wait until 2 August, against Manchester Super Giants, for the next go at a first win. A crowd of 10,115 watched this one, and they got the ending the competition sells itself on, even if neither side wanted to share it.
