Most wickets in T20Is: Rashid Khan leads the all-time list
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan has taken 193 wickets in T20 Internationals, more than any other bowler. Here is the full list, and India’s leading wicket-takers.

Rashid reached 193 in 115 T20Is at an economy rate of 6.04, and he is still playing. Only one other bowler in the format’s history has passed 165, and nobody has passed 170.

Two names carry an ICC tag because a handful of their matches came for a World XI rather than their country. It matters for one of them: 191 of Rashid Khan’s 193 wickets are for Afghanistan, with the other two taken in a single World XI appearance.
Rashid Khan’s lead, and how he built it
Rashid is 24 wickets clear at the top, and the gap is not the only thing separating him from the rest of the list. His economy rate of 6.04 is the best of anyone in the top eight, and he has nine four-wicket hauls — more than any other bowler in the table.
His best figures are 5 for 3 against Ireland at Greater Noida in March 2017, taken in two overs. He has one other five-wicket haul, 5 for 27 against the same opposition at Dehradun in February 2019.
Behind him, Adil Rashid has needed the most cricket of anyone near the top: 169 wickets from 150 matches, 35 more games than Rashid Khan has played. Wanindu Hasaranga is at the other end of that scale — 161 wickets in 98 matches, the fewest of any bowler who has reached 150.
New Zealand’s two leg-spinning and seam-bowling records have also changed hands. Ish Sodhi’s 165 wickets are now more than Tim Southee’s 164, with Mitchell Santner third on 142. Southee played his last T20I in 2024 and headed this list for years, including when this page was first written; Sodhi has since gone one wicket past him.
Why the list now includes Hong Kong, Bahrain and Nepal
The ICC gave full Twenty20 International status to all of its member nations, with men’s matches from 1 January 2019 counting as T20Is regardless of who is playing. That single decision reshaped this record. Associate bowlers now play a full international calendar against each other, and several of them have climbed past players from the Test-playing nations.
Hong Kong’s Ehsan Khan is eighth on 152, Bahrain’s Rizwan Butt tenth on 145, and Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane joint eleventh on 142. Rizwan Butt has four five-wicket hauls, more than anyone else in the table, Rashid Khan and Southee included.
The opposition is not the same, and the totals should be read with that in mind. It is still the record as the ICC counts it, and it is why 42 bowlers have now reached 100 T20I wickets where the figure was five when this page was first published. Eight have gone past 150.

Arshdeep Singh leads India with 135 wickets and is the only India bowler inside the world’s top 15. He got there quickly: his first T20I was in July 2022, and only Bahrain’s Rizwan Butt, who also started in 2022, has come into this list as recently.
Jasprit Bumrah is second on 121, and his economy rate of 6.51 is the tightest in this table. Kuldeep Yadav’s 95 wickets have come in only 54 matches, at an average of 13.74 and a strike rate of 11.8 — the best of any India bowler here on both counts.
Four India bowlers have passed 100 T20I wickets: Arshdeep, Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel.
Best bowling figures in a T20I innings
The best analysis in a men’s T20I is 8 for 7, taken for Bhutan against Myanmar at Gelephu in December 2025. Seven-wicket hauls have been recorded three times, all of them since 2023.
The best figures by a bowler from a Test-playing nation belong to India: Deepak Chahar’s 6 for 7 against Bangladesh at Nagpur in November 2019, a spell that included a hat-trick. Yuzvendra Chahal’s 6 for 25 against England at Bengaluru in 2017 is the next best by an India bowler.
