India’s Virat Kohli has the most international centuries among active players, with 86 since his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in August 2008. Only Sachin Tendulkar, with 100, has more in the history of the game. England’s Joe Root is second among active players with 61, ahead of Rohit Sharma (52) and Steve Smith (49).

Here, an active player means one who has played international cricket in 2026 and has not retired from all formats. That rules out Kane Williamson, who retired from international cricket in June 2026 with 48 hundreds. It also rules out Ross Taylor, who has 40, all for New Zealand, and came out of retirement to play for Samoa in 2025 but has not played since. Figures are to 9 October 2026.

Virat Kohli | 86 centuries

Kohli has 55 ODI hundreds, the most by anyone in the format, along with 30 in Tests and one in T20Is. He stopped playing T20Is in 2024 and Tests in 2025, so all his hundreds since have come in ODIs. He is 14 short of Tendulkar’s 100.

Joe Root | 61 centuries

Root has 41 Test hundreds, more than any other active player, and 20 in ODIs. He has never made a T20I hundred. He has made 11 international hundreds since September 2024. Only Shubman Gill, with 12, has made more in that time.

Rohit Sharma | 52 centuries

Rohit has 35 ODI hundreds, 12 in Tests and five in T20Is. He left T20Is after India won the 2024 World Cup and retired from Tests in 2025, so ODIs are now the only format he plays.

Steve Smith | 49 centuries

Smith has 37 Test hundreds and 12 in ODIs, a format he gave up in 2025. He still plays Tests for Australia.

Babar Azam | 32 centuries

Babar has played Tests, ODIs and T20Is for Pakistan in 2026. He has 20 ODI hundreds, nine in Tests and three in T20Is.
