Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar still hold the record for the most century partnerships in ODI cricket, with 26. Nobody has overtaken them, but one pair has closed in: Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are second on 21, and they are the only pair in the top five still adding to their total. Their latest came at Lord’s on 19 July 2026.

Here are the pairs who have put on 100 or more together the most times in men’s ODIs, with figures to 3 October 2026.

13 Eoin Morgan and Joe Root England 198 v New Zealand, 2015
13 Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag India 182 v New Zealand, 2003

Rohit Sharma appears twice in the top four, with Kohli and with Shikhar Dhawan, and Kumar Sangakkara twice in the top seven, with Tillakaratne Dilshan and with Mahela Jayawardene. An asterisk marks a stand that was still unbroken at the end of the innings.

Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar (India): 26

The two Indian greats stitched together multiple mammoth partnerships between 1992 and 2007, mostly as openers. In their 176 innings together they scored 8,227 runs at an average of 47.55, and their 26 century stands remain the ODI record.

Their highest partnership is worth 258 runs and it came against Kenya in October 2001, in a triangular series which also included South Africa. Ganguly scored 111 (124) and Tendulkar 146 (132), and India won by 186 runs.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli (India): 21

Rohit and Kohli put on their first century stand in May 2010, 154 against Sri Lanka, and they have been adding to the tally for 16 years. They had 18 when this page was first written in July 2022 and have added three since: an unbroken 168 against Australia at Sydney in October 2025, 136 against South Africa at Ranchi in November 2025, and 113 at Lord’s in July 2026, the match in which Rohit made 138.

Their highest stand of 246 came during a chase of West Indies’ 322 for 8 at Guwahati in October 2018. Rohit scored 152 not out (117) and Kohli 140 (107), and India won by eight wickets. Both now play ODIs only, so this is the one record on the page that can still change hands: five more would draw them level with Ganguly and Tendulkar, and six would take them past.

Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka): 20

Like Sachin and Sourav, this Sri Lankan duo had a 15-year run, from 2000 to 2015. In 108 innings together they scored 5,475 runs as partners at an average of 53.67.

Their highest stand of their 20 is 210 not out in the 2015 World Cup against Bangladesh, their last ICC tournament together. Dilshan (161 not out off 146) and Sangakkara (105 off 76) took Sri Lanka to 332 for 1, and they won by 92 runs.

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan (India): 18

Rohit’s second appearance on the list is with his long-time opening partner Shikhar Dhawan. Their 18th and last century stand was 114 not out against England at The Oval in July 2022; Dhawan played his final ODI that December and retired from international cricket in 2024, so their total is final.

Their best stand is 210 against Pakistan at the 2018 Asia Cup. Rohit made 111 not out from 119 balls and Dhawan 114 from 100 deliveries. It is also India’s highest first-wicket stand against Pakistan.

Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden (Australia): 16

Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden opened together for Australia between 2000 and 2008. They put on 16 stands of 100 or more and 5,409 runs as partners, at an average of 47.44.

Their highest stand is worth 172 runs and came in the 2007 World Cup final, with Gilchrist scoring 149 (104) and Hayden 38 (55). Australia beat Sri Lanka by 53 runs to win the World Cup that year.

The pairs still climbing

Behind Rohit and Kohli, the active pairs closest to the top of the list are both Indian and both involve Shubman Gill. Rohit and Gill have nine century stands as an opening pair, and Gill and Kohli have five. Rohit and Gill would need four more to reach the bottom of the table above.
