Chris Gayle’s highest score in T20 is an unbeaten 175 off 66 balls for Team Bangalore against Team Pune in the Indian T20 League in 2013. It was the highest individual score in T20 cricket for 13 years, until Lhuan-dre Pretorius made 188 not out for Titans in October 2026.
Considered one of the greatest batters to have played T20 cricket, Gayle made his West Indies debut in the shortest format against New Zealand in 2006. Since then, the southpaw scored 1,899 runs in 79 T20Is at an average of 27.92 and a strike rate of 137.50. He was West Indies’ leading T20I run-scorer for years and is now fourth on their list, behind Rovman Powell, Nicholas Pooran and Brandon King.
The self-proclaimed ‘Universe Boss’ was part of the West Indies side that won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2012 and 2016.
Apart from his impressive numbers in T20I cricket, Gayle has had a stellar Indian T20 League career.

Gayle has also played for several teams in the Big Bash League (BBL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL)
Gayle held the record for the most runs in T20 cricket for twelve years and finished with 14,562 runs in 463 matches at a strike rate of 144.75 and an average of 36.22, with 22 hundreds and 88 fifties. He has since been passed on the list of most runs in T20 cricket.
Gayle still holds the record for most centuries in T20 cricket, 22, nine more than Babar Azam in second place.
