Australia’s lowest T20I total is still 62, when they were bundled out against Bangladesh in the fifth match of the series in Dhaka on 9 August 2021.

The Aussies were chasing a target of 123 on a slowish surface but the Bangladeshi spinners proved to be a handful for the visitors.

After two quick wickets in the powerplay, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan picked up four wickets in the middle overs and ended Australia’s hopes of finishing the series on a high.

It was the fifth time Australia had been dismissed for under 100 in T20Is, and there has been one more since: 96 against Pakistan in Lahore in February 2026. The 62 was the fourth-lowest total by a Test-playing nation at the time. It has since slipped to ninth: eight all-out totals by the 12 full members are now lower, most recently Sri Lanka’s 45 against India at the Asian Games on 1 October 2026 (see the lowest scores in T20 cricket).

Here are the other five times the Aussies have been bowled out for under 100:

79 vs England at Southampton, June 13, 2005

In a T20I match at Southampton in 2005, Australia were bowled out for 79 runs inside 15 overs while chasing England’s total of 180. Jason Gillespie, batting at No. 9, was the top scorer for the Aussies with 24 as only three batsmen managed to cross the double-digit mark.

86 vs India at Dhaka, March 30, 2014

The 2014 T20 World Cup saw Australia go down to India in one of their worst performances in the showpiece event. Coming into the match on the back of two successive losses, Australia failed to chase India’s target of 160 and were bowled out for a mere 86 runs.

89 vs Pakistan at Dubai, September 5, 2012

Australia’s bilateral series against Pakistan in Dubai in 2012 saw the Aussies crumble to 89 all-out in the first T20I match of the series. In reply, Pakistan chased the total in 14.5 overs to win the match by seven wickets.

89 vs Pakistan at Abu Dhabi, October 24, 2018

After their 2012 debacle, Australia again succumbed to a low score against Pakistan six years later. Batting first, Pakistan rode on Babar Azam’s 68 to score 155/8.

Chasing the target, Australia were dented right from the first ball as Imad Wasim and Faheem Ashraf wreaked havoc. The duo picked five wickets between them and handed a crushing 66-run defeat to the Aussies.

96 vs Pakistan at Lahore, February 1, 2026

The most recent collapse came in the last game of a three-match series in Lahore. Pakistan made 207/6, and Australia were bowled out for 96 in 16.5 overs, with Mohammad Nawaz taking 5/18 and Marcus Stoinis top-scoring with 23. The 111-run margin is Australia’s heaviest T20I defeat by runs. Pakistan won the series 3-0, and in the second game the day before, Australia had been bowled out for 108.
