Vinícius was banned, and Diomandé set up one and scored one as Real Madrid beat Sevilla 4-1

Real Madrid will go to Barcelona next Sunday without Vinícius Júnior, and on this evidence they have someone to put on the left. Yan Diomandé set up the first goal and scored the fourth as Madrid beat Sevilla 4-1 at the Bernabéu, with Kylian Mbappé scoring the two in between.
It was the first game of Vinícius’s four-match ban. The Spanish federation gave him two games for pulling Nathan Saliba’s hair in the 1-0 win over Villarreal on 10 October and two more for how he protested to the referee afterwards. He also misses the Clásico on 25 October and the league games against Racing Santander and Valencia.
Güler, then Mbappé twice
Diomandé made the opener on the half-hour. He drove down the left, found Arda Güler, and Güler curled the ball over Odysseas Vlachodimos.
Seven minutes later it was 2-0. Jude Bellingham flicked a backheel round the corner, Mbappé took it on the turn, went round Vlachodimos and rolled it in. Just after the hour Mbappé won a penalty off Andrés Castrín and chipped it down the middle, Panenka style.
Sevilla got one back in the 80th minute. Manu Bueno took the ball off Mbappé, played a one-two with Lucas Stassin and finished. Two minutes later Aurélien Tchouaméni switched the play to Diomandé, who smashed it into the top corner.
The 19-year-old only joined in the summer, and his first Madrid goal was in that Villarreal game. Nobody watching at the Bernabéu would have picked him out as the stand-in.
Six points behind Barcelona
Madrid had the better of it from start to finish, and José Mourinho was happy to say so. “We controlled it from the first to the last minute and scored quality goals,” he said. “It was a beautiful victory.”
The win takes Madrid to 21 points from nine games and back up to third, behind Atlético Madrid. Barcelona have won all nine and are six points clear. Mourinho said he would not spend a minute on the Clásico yet, with RB Leipzig at the Bernabéu in the Champions League on Wednesday first.
He may not need to think long about the left wing, though. Diomandé has given him the easiest selection call of the week.
