Twente had lost eight in a row to PSV, and won this one with two goals in the last eleven minutes
Wout Weghorst and Daouda Weidmann scored inside four minutes at De Grolsch Veste to end PSV’s unbeaten start to the Eredivisie season and knock them off the top of the table.

PSV had not lost a match all season, and they had not lost to Twente in eight meetings. Twente ended both runs on Sunday with two goals in the last eleven minutes at De Grolsch Veste. The 3-2 win knocked PSV off the top of the Eredivisie and down to third.
Guus Til’s three minutes
Twente went ahead after 14 minutes through Younes Taha, and for a quarter of an hour it looked like the sort of afternoon Enschede has not had in years. Then Guus Til got involved. He headed PSV level in the 26th minute from a Mauro Junior cross, and three minutes later Paul Wanner slid him in behind and he beat the goalkeeper low. Half-time: Twente 1, PSV 2.
Van den Brom drops a defender and gets two goals
John van den Brom spent most of the second half watching his side get nowhere, and with about a quarter of an hour left he went to three at the back and accepted whatever came with it. What came with it was Wout Weghorst, clean through on Matej Kovar in the 79th minute and finishing it coolly.
Four minutes later Daouda Weidmann picked the ball up deep inside his own half and simply ran with it. Nobody stopped him. He carried it most of the length of the pitch, took aim and made it 3-2. Twente saw out the remaining minutes without much trouble.
Eight in a row, ended
Twente had lost their previous eight meetings with PSV, seven of them in the Eredivisie. The most recent was 5-1 in Eindhoven in May. So this was not a case of a good side finally getting what it deserved against a rival. Twente had been thoroughly second best in this fixture for years.
The table is the other thing. AZ Alkmaar beat Telstar 1-0 on Sunday and lead with 19 points from seven. Feyenoord, who put five past Utrecht earlier in the day, are on 17. PSV and Twente are both on 16, with PSV third on goal difference. Seven rounds in, the Dutch title race has four teams in it and the team everyone expected to be running away with it has just been beaten by one of them.
