Thoi Singh had never scored in the ISL, and his 89th-minute volley got Inter Kashi their first point

Inter Kashi were a minute away from a second straight defeat when Thoi Singh Huidrom, a second-half substitute, volleyed in an equaliser in the 89th minute. It finished 1-1 against Odisha FC at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune, where Inter Kashi are playing their home games this season.
Both sides had lost their opening games of the 2026-27 ISL season, Inter Kashi 2-0 to Kerala Blasters and Odisha 2-1 to Punjab FC. Both now have a first point, and on the evidence of the last half-hour, Inter Kashi will be the happier of the two.
An own goal puts Odisha ahead
The opener came just before the hour and it was not one Odisha had to work hard for. Pratik Chaudhari, the veteran centre-back Inter Kashi signed from Jamshedpur FC this autumn, turned the ball into his own net.
On the numbers, TG Purushothaman’s side were the more dangerous team. FotMob’s match data has Odisha with 23 touches in the Inter Kashi box to 11 the other way, even though the home side had 56 per cent of the ball. Odisha just could not turn that into a second goal.
A first ISL goal for Thoi Singh
Carlos Vaz Pinto went to his bench after falling behind, and it was one of his substitutes who saved the game.
Thoi Singh is a 22-year-old forward from Manipur who joined Inter Kashi this autumn from NorthEast United, where he was part of a Durand Cup-winning squad. He had never scored in the ISL before. His first goal was a volley, and it was also Inter Kashi’s first goal of the season.
Vaz Pinto had said before the game that his side were “targeting three points”. They got one, and given where the game was with a minute left, they will take it.
Odisha wanted more
Purushothaman had set his sights higher in his preview. “We have to fight for the top spot and not like last year,” he said. A point from a game Odisha led for more than half an hour is a slow start towards that.
Inter Kashi play East Bengal on Friday, 23 October. Odisha host NorthEast United the following evening, on Saturday, 24 October.
