Spurs have scored two league goals all season, and they go to Old Trafford bottom of the table
Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham are still looking for a first league win, and Michael Carrick’s United, three points ahead in 12th, have injury problems of their own before Saturday’s 10pm IST kick-off.

Tottenham have played five Premier League games this season and have not won one. They are bottom of the table on two points, and they scored their first league goals of the season in a 3-2 home defeat to Aston Villa before the international break. Their next stop is Old Trafford on Saturday, kick-off 10pm IST.
Manchester United are not exactly flying either. Michael Carrick’s side are 12th with five points, only three ahead of Spurs, and they have not won a domestic game since beating Ipswich 5-2.
United’s run since Ipswich
Since then United have drawn 2-2 at Everton, lost 1-0 at home to Manchester City, gone out of the Carabao Cup 3-2 to Brighton and needed Matheus Cunha’s 89th-minute equaliser to take a point at Fulham. The one bright spot was a 4-0 Champions League win over Sabah.
The team news does not help much. Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo both pulled out of England duty this month and are doubtful. Amad Diallo is still out with an ankle problem, Benjamin Šeško has a shin injury, and Patrick Dorgu and Noussair Mazraoui both came back from international duty with knocks. Carlos Baleba is closer to his first appearance after an ankle problem, and Matthijs de Ligt is working his way back from a long back injury.
Spurs and the goals problem
Tottenham have failed to score in four of their five league games. The 0-0 draws with Nottingham Forest and Everton were the only points, and they were beaten 2-0 at home by Newcastle. They also went out of the Carabao Cup at Anfield, beaten 3-1 by Liverpool.
De Zerbi has his own injury list. Pedro Porro has a hamstring problem, Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert are long-term absentees, and Mykhailo Mudryk is not back yet either. The two Dutch centre-backs, Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul van Hecke, both picked up knocks with the Netherlands, though neither injury is thought to be serious.
Tottenham have the recent edge
United won the last meeting 2-0 at Old Trafford in February, but Spurs have won four of the last six between the clubs, including the 2025 Europa League final in Bilbao. The 2-2 draw in north London in November 2025 was the other result of that run that did not go Tottenham’s way.
This is two struggling sides, and I’d lean United, narrowly, mostly because they are at home and Spurs have shown so little going forward. That said, Tottenham scored twice in their last league game, and United’s back line could be short of Dorgu and Mazraoui. A draw would surprise nobody.
