Neuer’s error gave Augsburg the fastest goal in Bundesliga history, and Brown’s equaliser rescued a 2-2 for Bayern
Robin Fellhauer scored after eight seconds, Augsburg led twice, and Bayern had goals ruled out for offside before Nathaniel Brown’s 80th-minute equaliser.

Bayern Munich kicked off at Augsburg on Saturday, played the ball back to Manuel Neuer, and were behind eight seconds later. Neuer tried to lift a pass over Robin Fellhauer, and Fellhauer took the ball off him and rolled it into an empty net. Opta confirmed it as the fastest goal in Bundesliga history.
Bayern spent the rest of the afternoon chasing it. They equalised twice, through Ismael Saibari and the substitute Nathaniel Brown, both from Harry Kane passes, and had more goals ruled out for offside. It finished 2-2.
The record Neuer will want to forget
The previous record was nine seconds, shared by Karim Bellarabi, for Leverkusen at Dortmund in August 2014, and Kevin Volland, for Hoffenheim against Bayern a year later. Neuer was in goal for Volland’s as well. Some hand-timed reports had Fellhauer’s at a little over eight seconds, but the league counts in whole seconds, and eight beats nine.
Augsburg held their lead to half-time. Early in the second half Luis Díaz finished with a scissor kick after Finn Dahmen failed to hold the ball, and VAR ruled it out for an offside in the build-up. Saibari’s goal in the 55th minute did count, Kane setting him up.
Ribeiro puts Augsburg back in front
Augsburg went back in front nine minutes later on the break. Calvin Brackelmann carried the ball in from the left and hit a left-footed shot that Neuer could only push straight to Rodrigo Ribeiro, who tapped in. Two goals conceded, and Neuer was at fault for both.
Serge Gnabry thought he had equalised soon after coming on, but Kane was offside in the move. Brown, another second-half substitute, got the goal that stood in the 80th minute, unmarked at the far post after Kane had picked out the pass. Bayern then had another goal ruled out for offside deep in stoppage time after a long VAR check, and Augsburg held on.
Augsburg have Bayern’s number
Augsburg have done this before. They won 2-1 at the Allianz Arena in January, ending Bayern’s 27-match unbeaten run in the league. That is four points from their last two meetings with Bayern for Manuel Baum’s side.
The draw leaves Bayern second on 11 points, two behind Borussia Dortmund, who were held 2-2 by Werder Bremen on Friday. Vincent Kompany’s side could drop to third if Freiburg beat Schalke on Sunday. Augsburg have eight points from five games. For Kompany, the table may matter less than his goalkeeper’s afternoon, with a Champions League trip to Viking on Tuesday.
