Mohun Bagan Super Giant lost one league game in the whole of the 2025-26 Indian Super League. This season it has taken them one match to equal that. Jithin MS scored in stoppage time in Guwahati on Monday, NorthEast United won 1-0, and Panagiotis Dilmperis’s first ISL game in charge ended in defeat.
Bagan go to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi tonight to face Sporting Club Delhi, who are also still waiting for a point. Kick-off is 7.30pm IST, and the match is on SonyLIV and the ISL’s YouTube channel.
Delhi were 2-1 up in Bengaluru
Tomasz Tchórz’s side went in at half-time 2-1 up away at Bengaluru FC on the opening day. Rodriguinho scored and Menno Koch put one into his own net. Borja Martínez levelled in the 75th minute, Koch scored at the right end in the 89th, and Delhi went home with nothing. For a club that finished 12th of 14 last season, the performance was encouraging. The result was not.
Tchórz said his staff know “a lot about the (Mohun Bagan SG) players individually”, but that the collective side of the game matters just as much. “We have to find solutions during the game,” he said.
The last meeting went nine minutes into added time
These two met once in last season’s league, on the final day in Kolkata on 21 May. Clarence Savio Fernandes put Delhi ahead in the 63rd minute. Manvir Singh equalised in the 90th and Jamie Maclaren won it in the ninth minute of stoppage time, but East Bengal beat Inter Kashi at the same time and took the title on goal difference. Bagan finished level with them on 26 points.
Maclaren has travelled to Delhi, according to the fan site MBFT, which expects him to start up front alongside Lee Erwin. Midfielder Deepak Tangri is suspended. Bagan did most of the attacking in Guwahati and hit the woodwork through Suhail Ahmed Bhat, but could not score. With Maclaren, Erwin, Lallianzuala Chhangte and Dejan Dražić to pick from, you would not expect goals to stay a problem for long.
Bagan did not hold a pre-match press conference. Dilmperis has said before that the culture of the team demands wins, and one game into his first season that line already carries some weight.
