Leif Davis cleared two off the line, and Enciso’s gift from Milenković earned Ipswich a 1-1 draw with Forest
Neco Williams put Nottingham Forest ahead at Portman Road, but a weak back-pass let Julio Enciso equalise and Forest are now four league games without a win.

Every league goal Nottingham Forest have scored this season has come away from home, and they got another one at Ipswich. They just could not add a second. Neco Williams put them ahead at Portman Road in the 13th minute on Friday, Julio Enciso equalised four minutes before half-time, and Ipswich held on for a 1-1 draw.
Forest had much the better of it, with more than twice as many shots, and Leif Davis had to clear off the Ipswich line twice. They still came away with one point, and they are now four league games without a win.
A good goal, then a bad pass
The opener was a proper team move, finished by Williams at the back post from Daniel Muñoz’s cross. Morgan Gibbs-White, who missed the 1-0 home defeat by Arsenal on 18 October, was back in the side.
The equaliser was a gift. Nikola Milenković, back in the starting line-up, was caught on the ball after a long punt forward and then rolled a weak pass back towards Matz Sels. Enciso got there first and scored.
“I took the ball and saw the keeper, he didn’t come, so I scored,” Enciso told the East Anglian Daily Times. He thought it was his first goal at Portman Road, and he still admitted to being “a bit disappointed” with a draw.
Diop stays on
The big argument came early in the second half. Issa Diop brought down James McAtee as he ran at goal, and referee Thomas Bramall was sent to the pitchside monitor. He showed Diop a yellow card, not a red.
Oliver Glasner did not agree. The Forest manager thought it should have been a red card and called it the wrong decision. Gary O’Neil accepted it was a foul, but felt the referee and VAR had got it right.
Forest kept coming. Liam Delap headed over and later dragged a long-range shot just wide, and substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi missed a late chance. The worse news for Glasner may be Williams, who went off with an arm injury that Sky Sports described as worrying.
Forest’s slow start, again
The draw ended a run of three straight league defeats for Forest, and it took their goal tally for the season to six. They have one win from eight games, at Aston Villa in September, and six points.
They had one win from eight at this stage last season too, and by then Evangelos Marinakis had sacked both Nuno Espírito Santo and Ange Postecoglou. Glasner insisted his side are “on the right track”, and on this evidence he has a point. Creating chances has not been the problem. Turning them into goals has.
Ipswich have 10 points from eight games after their first league draw of the season. Their next game is at Hull City on 31 October. Forest go to Brentford the same day.
