Como beat Genoa 4-1 with a debut assist from Moise Kean, and they are top of Serie A
Genoa scored first and then conceded four at the Ferraris. Como have seven points from three games, and Moise Kean’s first act as a Como player was to set one up.

Como went a goal down at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Friday, September 4, and then scored four. Two of them came from Assane Diao, the second set up by Moise Kean three days after he signed. Cesc Fabregas’ side have seven points from three matches and sit top of Serie A.
Genoa led for six minutes
Lorenzo Colombo crossed, Milutin Osmajic finished, and Genoa were in front on 19 minutes. That was the good part of their evening. Martin Baturina levelled six minutes later with a right-footed strike from well outside the area into the far bottom corner, and by half-time Como had two more. Diao arrived at the back post on the half hour. Nico Paz made it 3-1 on 41 minutes and hit the woodwork early in the second half trying for a fourth.
Genoa have now played three games, scored one goal and taken nothing from any of them. They have conceded seven.
Kean’s first contribution was an assist
Kean started on the bench. Como had signed him on the last day of the transfer window from Fiorentina, on a loan worth 10 million euros with a 25 million obligation to buy and another five million in add-ons, so 40 million all told for a 26-year-old who scored 27 Serie A goals in 59 games for Fiorentina across two seasons.
He came on with the game already gone and, on 78 minutes, worked the ball through midfield before rolling it across for Diao to finish off from an angle. Alexandros Douvikas had started up front. That is the sort of selection headache a club normally waits years to earn.
The player Real Madrid could have taken back
Nico Paz is still there, which is the part of this that took some doing. Real Madrid held a buy-back on the Argentine and chose in June not to use it for this season, at the player’s request, keeping a unilateral option for 2027-28 instead. Paz got six goals and eight assists in his first Serie A season at Como and 12 and six in his second, and Como reached the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history off the back of it.
They finished fourth in Serie A to get there. The league phase is the reason Kean wanted the move, and the reason a player Madrid still fancy was willing to stay in a city of 83,000 people.
The table needs an asterisk, for now
Como’s seven points come from three games because they played the Friday fixture. Roma, Inter, Milan, Juventus, Atalanta and Lazio all have six from two and play this weekend, so most of them will go past Como by Sunday night. Beating Napoli 2-1 at the Maradona on August 30 and drawing 1-1 at Udinese on the opening weekend is still a start worth having, and the Champions League league phase has not even begun.
