Calcutta Football League 2026 points table: CFL Premier Division Group A and Group B standings

The 128th edition of India’s oldest league competition kicked off on 12 July 2026, East Bengal against George Telegraph, and the first phase is nearly done: the busiest clubs have one match left of their eleven, while several still have three. Below are both group tables in full, followed by the format that decides who goes up into the Super Six and who drops into the relegation round.

Bhawanipore have taken over. They were third at the end of July and are now four points clear at the top, unbeaten in ten with seven wins, and the maths already has them safe: only East Bengal and Mohun Bagan U23 can still finish above 24 points, so a top-three place is theirs whatever happens in their last match.

East Bengal are the ones with the room. Twenty points from eight, still unbeaten, and three matches in hand on the leaders — win one of them and they cannot be caught out of the top three either, because only Bhawanipore and Mohun Bagan could reach 24 or more. The third qualifying place is the live one. Mohun Bagan U23 and United Kolkata are level on 16, but Mohun Bagan have three games left to United Kolkata’s one, and Calcutta Customs on 15 with two to play can still reach 21.

Kidderpore have gone the other way. Unbeaten and joint-third a month ago, they now sit sixth on 12 with six draws in ten — the point about four draws not being a platform has simply carried on being true. At the bottom, Bidhannagar MSA have two points from nine and George Telegraph four, and Pathachakra have conceded 30, the worst in either group by nine.

Group B has swapped its leader too, and it is far tighter than Group A. Mohammedan SC head it on 18 from eight, unbeaten, having climbed from third; Coal India SPA, who led at the end of July, are now third. Police AC sit between them on 17 but have played ten, two more than Mohammedan.

Nothing here is settled. Nine of the twelve clubs can still mathematically reach Mohammedan’s current 18 points — only Wari, NBP Rainbow and Kalighat SLA cannot — and United SC on 14 with three matches in hand have the highest ceiling in the group at 23. Where Group A has one club already through, Group B has none.

The goals tell the same story as a month ago: Group B remains the lower-scoring half. Its top scorers, Mohammedan, have 16 in eight; four Group A clubs have made 17 or more. Kalighat SLA have scored two all season.

How the CFL 2026 format works

The Calcutta Football League is run by the Indian Football Association of West Bengal and has been played since 1898, which makes 2026 its 128th year. The Premier Division was drawn as 26 clubs in two groups of 13, but Sribhumi FC and Diamond Harbour both withdrew before playing, so 24 sides are actually competing — 12 in each group. Neither played a match, so neither appears in the tables above.

• First phase: each group plays through its own single round-robin.
• Championship round: the top three from each group go into a six-team Super Six that decides the title.
• Relegation round: the bottom three from each group play off to decide who goes down.
• Tie-break: teams level on points are separated by goal difference.

That top-three cut is what makes both pictures above live in different ways. Group A has one club through already and a real fight for third; Group B has no one safe and nine clubs still able to reach the top.

Who are the defending champions?

East Bengal, who won the 2025 CFL Premier Division for their 41st league title — comfortably the most of any club in the competition’s history. They are still unbeaten in 2026, but Bhawanipore have taken the lead in Group A while East Bengal were playing fewer matches.
