Bellingham made the first two, and Mourinho’s Real Madrid have ten goals in three games
Malaga’s first month back in the top flight now includes a 4-0 defeat at the Bernabeu, and Jose Mourinho’s side have won all three of their league matches.

Jose Mourinho has been back at Real Madrid for three league matches and his side have scored ten goals in them. The latest four came against a Malaga side promoted from the Segunda Division last season, and the Bernabeu had the result settled inside half an hour on Sunday.
Bellingham made the first two
Jude Bellingham opened it in the 19th minute with a right-footed finish from a tight angle on the right, the kind of goal that looks harder on a second viewing than it did live. Seven minutes later he was involved again, this time forcing the goalkeeper Alfonso Herrero to turn the ball into his own net for 2-0.
Kylian Mbappe made it three in the 30th minute with a volley from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross. That was his fourth goal of the season and it puts him top of the scoring charts in Spain, which reads oddly next to the fact that he did not score at all in Madrid’s opening match. He got a hat-trick against Real Sociedad four days before this one.
The fourth arrived in the first minute of stoppage time. Vinicius Junior rolled it across for Arda Guler, on as a substitute, and the finish was from close enough that missing was the harder option.
Nine points, ten goals, two conceded
Madrid opened away at Espanyol on 22 August and won it 2-1, Bellingham scoring and Carlos Espi getting a late winner. Then 4-1 against Real Sociedad at home on 26 August, and now this. Three matches, three wins, nine points, and only the two goals conceded.
Whether that means much yet is a fair question. Espanyol, Real Sociedad and a newly promoted side are not the fixtures that tell you who wins a title in May, and Mourinho’s Madrid have not had to defend a lead or dig out a draw. Betis away on 4 September is a better test than anything they have faced so far.
Malaga are 19th with one point
For Malaga this is what the first month back in the top flight looks like. They lost 2-0 at Atletico Madrid on their opening night, drew 1-1 with Deportivo La Coruna, and have now been beaten by four at the Bernabeu. One point from three games leaves them 20th, and the only real consolation is that the fixture list stops throwing champions at them for a while.
Barcelona play Rayo Vallecano at Camp Nou on Monday night. They have six points from two games and have not conceded yet, so a win there takes them level with Madrid and makes the top of the table a straight race again before September has started.
