Former Portugal forward Luís Figo holds the record for the most assists in a single UEFA Champions League season, with nine for Barcelona in 1999-2000, according to Opta.

Five players have come within one of him. David Beckham set up eight for Manchester United in their treble-winning 1998-99 season, Gaizka Mendieta did the same for Valencia in 2000-01, and Neymar reached eight for Barcelona in 2016-17, four of them in the 7-0 win over Celtic.

James Milner made eight for Liverpool in 2017-18, when the Reds reached the final, and Raphinha became the latest to reach eight, for Barcelona in 2024-25. Nobody came close in 2025-26, when the leading providers finished on six.

Figo also appears a second time, with seven for Real Madrid in 2000-01, the season after his move from Barcelona. Ryan Giggs, Xavi Hernández, Zlatan Ibrahimović and Roberto Firmino are among the others on seven.

A note on the numbers: assist counts differ between data providers. Some other counts credit Milner with nine in 2017-18, level with Figo, give Figo nine again in 2000-01 and have Wayne Rooney on eight in 2013-14. The table below uses Opta’s figures throughout.
