India’s VALORANT team start their bid for the Esports Nations Cup on June 26, when the tournament’s Asia qualifier opens with a place in Saudi Arabia on the line. Only the top two sides from the regional bracket reach the main event in Riyadh later this year, which leaves India’s squad with very little room to settle in.
NODWIN Gaming, India’s national team partner for the competition, has built the roster around in-game leader Sagnik “Hellf” Roy. He is joined by Abhirup “Lightningfast” Choudhury, Aman “Hoax” Yadav, Venkatesh “Venky” Sharma, Norbu “Karam1L” Tsering, Shravana “Techno” Sahoo and Daivik “Dc” Chauhan, with Afaque “Envy2K” Shaikh, Jayesh “kibojn” Negi and Rishi “RvK” Vijayakumar named as substitutes. Abhishek “GodspeedxD” Bajaj is the coach.
A roster with recent silverware
This is not a group thrown together for the occasion. Most of the players came through S8UL Esports’ title-winning run at Predator League India 2026, and Hellf, Hoax and Dc had already won the 2025 edition with Orangutan. That shared history counts for something in a format where there is no time to build chemistry on the fly.
The Asia qualifier runs from June 26 to 28 as a double-elimination bracket. Most matches are a single map, with only the Upper Bracket Final and Lower Bracket Final stretched to a best of three, so one bad map can leave a side scrambling through the lower bracket. India share the field with eight other nations, including Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, the Maldives, Hong Kong and Japan.
Japan and Hong Kong set the bar
Two of those names stand out. Japan field a roster stacked with players from VCT Pacific, and Hong Kong lean heavily on talent from the VCT China scene, which makes both clear favourites for the two tickets to Riyadh. India go in as a Tier 2 side rather than a fancied one, but an experienced lineup that has won together before is the kind of team that can upset the seedings over three days.
The wider Esports Nations Cup is a nation-versus-nation event in Riyadh with a reported prize pool of 20 million dollars, and India have been building toward it for months across several titles. The VALORANT side is one of the few that has to earn its place rather than receive it, which makes the next three days a real test of how far India’s PC esports have come.
