The BGMI Showdown starts on September 22, and Krafton has not said which 48 teams are in it
BMSD 2026 is invite only, worth a crore, and nine days out the list of invited teams is still unpublished. The qualifying for it finished back in June.

The BGMI Showdown returns on September 22 with a crore in prize money and 48 teams. With nine days to go, Krafton India has not named a single one of them.
That is not an oversight so much as the design of the thing. BMSD 2026 is invite only. There is no open qualifier, no registration window, no path in for a roster that gets hot in September.
The qualifying happened months ago
Invites are drawn from three places: the Krafton India Esports leaderboard, the results of BGIS 2026, and the results of BMPS 2026. Both of those events finished before Krafton even announced this tournament in late July. BGIS wrapped up in Chennai in March, BMPS in Jaipur in June.
For a scene used to BGIS opening its doors to thousands of teams, that is a different kind of tournament. You either did the work in the first half of the year or you watch this one.
Four weeks of cuts before anyone flies anywhere
The schedule runs long. Three promotion and relegation weeks come first, on September 22 to 24, September 25 to 27 and September 28 to 30. Upper Bracket Survival follows from October 1 to 3 and Lower Bracket Survival from October 4 to 6. The semi-finals are spread across October 8 to 11, a Last Chance stage on October 12 and 13 gives beaten teams one more go, and the LAN Grand Finals run from October 16 to 18.
Who set the pecking order this year
iQOO Soul are the reigning BGIS champions. They won the Chennai Trade Centre final ahead of Genesis Esports, taking a crore from a record four-crore pool, with more than 600,000 people watching at the peak.
GodLike took BMPS 2026 in Jaipur in June after Krafton doubled that prize pool from two crore to four. Their grand final peaked at 729,000 concurrent viewers with 12,000 fans inside the venue, and the title carried India’s first slot at the Esports World Cup. iQOO Orangutan picked up the second through the Krafton India rankings.
The last Showdown
Orangutan won the 2025 edition at the Tesseract Arena in Hyderabad, banking 30 lakh and a direct slot at the Global Championship. K9 Esports finished second on 15 lakh and Team Soul third on 10 lakh. Before that you have to go back to 2022 and 7Sea Esports, who won the first Showdown before the event vanished for three years.
Mumbai closes the year
BMSD is only half of Krafton’s second-half plan. The BGMI International Cup follows almost immediately, 16 teams made up of six Indian sides, five from South Korea and five from Japan, with grand finals at the Dome, SVP Indoor Stadium in Mumbai from October 30 to November 1 and another crore on the table.
The Showdown bracket is set, the stages are dated, the money is confirmed. The only thing missing is the list of who is actually playing.
