Team Free Agents lead BGMI’s Naye Khiladi finals without winning a match
Two teams sit on top of the grand finals leaderboard with no Chicken Dinner between them, at a tournament NODWIN built to surface players from outside the established organisations.

Six matches into the BGMI: Naye Khiladi grand finals, the team leading the tournament has not won any of them. Team Free Agents closed day one on Friday with 65 points, built almost entirely out of kills. They took 52 eliminations across the six games and finished first in none.
HexVora are second on 61, and they have not won a match either. The two of them have 96 eliminations between them and no Chicken Dinner to show for it, which says something about how the first day of this thing went.
A tournament built to find players nobody has heard of
Naye Khiladi means new players, and that is the whole design. NODWIN Gaming ran the qualification through BGMI’s in-game system rather than through invited organisations, and more than 8,000 players entered, whittled down to 1,024 teams before the group stage. Round one, played across 64 groups, narrowed that to 256. Round two cut it to 32. The semifinals took 32, and 16 came out of them into this weekend’s finals, playing for a prize pool of 10 lakh rupees.
“The 16 teams that have reached the Grand Finals have earned their place through skill, consistency and determination,” NODWIN co-founder Gautam Virk said when the finalists were confirmed.
The result is a leaderboard that reads nothing like a BGMI event usually does. There is no GodLike, who took the Pro Series title in June, and no Team SouL, who won BGIS earlier this year. None of the names that decide India’s big BGMI events are in this bracket at all. K9 Esports sit seventh on 38 points and are the closest thing here to a household name.
How day one went
DCxSCR were the only team to win more than one match. They took the opening game of the finals for 17 points and the fourth for another 17, which put them fourth overall on 52, and their player Chokeboy finished the day with 14 eliminations. X4RCE grabbed the last game of the evening for 12 points and sit fifth on 49.
Zero Ark Official are third on 56, with 39 of those points coming from eliminations. 7Gods Esports are sixth on 39, Troy Tamilan eighth on 34 and Thunder Gods ninth on 31. Esports Social, who had been one of the stronger sides through the semifinals, managed only tenth on 29 despite winning the fifth match of the day for 19 points. Reignite Esports are last on 10.
Six matches is a third of the tournament, and the spread from first to seventh is 27 points. On a format where a single Chicken Dinner can be worth close to 20, that is not a lead anybody can sit on.
Twelve matches to go
Day two runs on Saturday and day three on Sunday, six matches each, across Rondo, Erangel and Miramar. Both days stream on NODWIN Gaming’s YouTube and KICK channels, and the team on top after all 18 games takes the largest slice of the prize money along with the title.
What Krafton and NODWIN get out of it is a look at players who have never been near a LAN stage. That matters more this year than most, with the BGMI International Cup heading to Mumbai and the BGMI Showdown running through late September and October. Rosters get rebuilt around events like those, and a week of good server time in front of a live broadcast is how an unknown team gets a phone call.
