STG Official won a 10 lakh qualifier, and now they play Nebula for a share of 5 lakh

Eight BGMI teams who spent last week grinding through an open qualifier now have to sit down opposite the reigning national champions. Trident Ignite 2026 Challengers vs Masters starts on Friday 11 September and runs to Monday 14 September, with 16 teams playing 24 matches over four days.

Half the field was invited and half earned its place. The qualified eight came out of the Trident Road to Masters finals, played from 8 to 10 September, where STG Official finished on top. Carpediem were second, Silly Esports third and Team Free Agents fourth, and Team Akash, Team Era Esports, Utkal Stars and Los Hermanos took the remaining four slots in the top eight.

The prize money runs backwards

Here is the odd part. The qualifier they just came through carried a bigger pot than the tournament it fed into. Road to Masters had ₹10 lakh on the table; Challengers vs Masters has ₹5 lakh, split down the standings so every team takes something home.

For the invited half that is small change. Nebula Esports won ₹40 lakh for taking the BGMI Masters Series Season 5 title on 6 September. Team Soul took ₹1 crore out of a ₹4 crore pool for winning BGIS in March. Nobody in the top bracket is here for the money, which is exactly what makes the format interesting: the incentive is reputation, and reputation is the one thing an underdog can take off you in six matches.

Who the qualifiers have to get past

The invited list reads like a BGMS podium plus friends. Nebula are the team to beat and it is not close. Aadi’s side closed out Season 5 with 210 points from 18 matches, 116 eliminations and four Chicken Dinners, and Knowme was the standout individual of the grand finals. Gladiators Esports finished as runners-up on 189 points and Orangutan third on 187, so the margin between those three was 23 points across three days of play.

Rapid Chaos were fourth in that event and are also in. So are Elite Nova Esports, Team Tamilas and Revenant XSpark. Then there is Team Soul, who won BGIS 2026 in Chennai in March with 173 points and 119 eliminations under NakuL, in front of a peak audience of more than 600,000, and who then had a flat Masters Series by their own standards.

How to watch, and what to watch for

Trident Gaming streams all four days on YouTube in Hindi from 12pm IST. The map order repeats daily: Rondo first, then three games on Erangel, then two on Miramar.

That rotation matters more than it looks. Three Erangel games out of six rewards teams with the discipline to rotate early and hold edges rather than the ones who thrive on the chaos of a smaller map, and Erangel is where the established sides have the deepest muscle memory. If a qualifier is going to break into the top three here, it will probably happen on Rondo or in one of the Miramar closers, where positioning is worth more than practice hours.

The wider point is that India’s BGMI calendar has stopped having an off-season. Season 5 of the Masters Series finished on 6 September, this event fills the gap, and KRAFTON’s ₹1 crore BGMI Showdown brings 48 invited teams in from 22 September with LAN finals in October. For the eight sides who just qualified, four days against Nebula and Team Soul is the audition, and the people who pick invite lists are watching.
