Orangutan were invited straight into Super Weekend 1, and now they have six games left to stay in BGMS

NODWIN invited exactly two teams straight into the Super Weekend stage of BGMI Masters Series Season 5, and skipped them past the opening fortnight of league play. GodLike Esports took the shortcut and are through to Super Weekend 2. Orangutan took the same shortcut, finished in the wrong half of Super Weekend 1, and dropped back down into League Week 3. They now have six games on Thursday to make sure they do not fall out of the top eight.

Three of League Week 3’s four days are done at the NODWIN Gaming Arena in Delhi NCR. Sixteen teams are playing 24 games for eight places in Super Weekend 2, which starts on Friday, and after 18 of them Orangutan sit fifth on 170 points. That is inside the cut, but not by much, and their week has been lopsided. They won the third game of the stage and have finished 15th, 16th, 12th and 10th in four of the others.

Ten points between eighth and ninth

Genesis Esports lead on 271, which is 30 clear of Team Apex Gaming on 241, and they have got there without much help from chicken dinners. Genesis have won one game out of 18. What they have done instead is survive: fifteen top-12 finishes in 18 games and a 22-kill haul in game 16 that they turned into seventh place. K9 Esports are third on 212 with three game wins, and Vasista Esports fourth on 191 with three of their own.

The teams to watch on Thursday are the ones stacked around the qualification line. Rapid Chaos hold eighth on 154. Reckoning Esports are ninth on 144, 8Bit tenth on 143, and Gladiators Esports eleventh on 128 after missing the Super Weekend 1 cut earlier in the week. Ten points is one decent game. Six games remain, and the maps run Rondo, Erangel, Miramar, Rondo, Miramar and Erangel from 4pm IST.

Revenant XSpark keep winning games and keep not climbing

Revenant XSpark are sixth on 164 with three chicken dinners, as many as any team in the stage has managed, and two more than the side sitting 107 points clear of them at the top. Two of those wins came in games 14 and 17, so the form is there. The problem is the 18 games either side of them. They have also finished 16th, 15th, 13th and 12th, and a squad that led the entire league after day one back on 10 August has spent the rest of the season on the wrong side of cuts, including a Week 2 cut decided by a single point.

Below them, Zero Ark are seventh on 156 without winning a single game, which is the opposite problem and, on the evidence of this table, the more reliable one. White Walkers and HyperCatz are level on 92 at the bottom.

The eight teams that come through join the eight already qualified from Super Weekend 1, a group that includes Team SouL and GodLike. Super Weekend 2 runs from Friday to Sunday, and the top six there go straight to the Grand Finals from 4 to 6 September. Everyone else drops into the playoffs, and the bottom two on the League Leaderboard go home. There is 1.01 crore rupees in the prize pool.
