Orangutan are the BGMI Showdown champions, and they have not won a match in 18 games of qualifying

Orangutan won the BGMI Showdown last year. On Tuesday they finished sixth in Group B, two points outside the top four, and the defending champions now have to go the long way round to reach the semi-finals.

Group B played the second day of Week 3 of qualifying on 29 September, six matches with a clear reward at the top. The top four went straight into the semi-finals. Fifth to 12th went into the Upper Bracket Survival, and the bottom four dropped into the Lower Bracket Survival. Nobody in this group was knocked out.

Rapid Chaos run away with it

Rapid Chaos Esports finished top with 78 points, 16 clear of anyone else. They won the third match for 18 points and took 50 finishes across the day, the most in the group. They also lead the overall table across all three weeks of qualifying with 167 points.

Team AX were second on 62 without winning a match. Wyld Fangs were third on 56 after taking the fifth match for 16 points.

Fourth place was decided by nothing at all on points. Zero Ark and Version1 x Blue Army both finished on 49, and both won two matches. Blue Army took the first two games of the day and then faded. Zero Ark won the fourth for 17 points and the last one for 22, and it was Zero Ark who took the semi-final place.

Orangutan still waiting for a win

Orangutan scored 47 points and 30 finishes, two short of Blue Army and Zero Ark. They have now played 18 matches in this year’s qualifying and have not won one. Their 117 points put them tenth overall, which is a steady return, but steady is not enough to avoid the extra stage.

It is a long way from October 2025, when they beat K9 Esports and Team SouL in the Grand Finals in Hyderabad to win the title and a place at the PUBG Mobile Global Championship.

Team OutRage had one of the stranger days in the group. They finished eighth on 32 points, and every one of those points came from their 32 finishes. They did not score a single placement point in six matches.

What comes next

Higgboson Esports, OutRage, Learn From Past, IRIS Esports, Vijay Esports and The Knight Mobs join Blue Army and Orangutan in the Upper Bracket Survival. Carpediem, Reckoning Esports, Vasista Esports and White Walkers go to the Lower Bracket Survival. White Walkers scored eight points all day.

The Upper Bracket Survival runs from 1 to 3 October with 16 teams and 18 matches. The top eight go through to the semi-finals and the other eight fall into the Lower Bracket Survival. Half the field goes through, and a side with Orangutan’s record should be among them. What they have not shown yet this year is a match win, and that is usually what separates a champion’s week from a quiet one. Group A plays its Week 3 day on Wednesday before that.

The Showdown has a ₹1 crore prize pool. The winner goes to the PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2026, and the Grand Finals are in Hyderabad from 16 to 18 October.

Keep up with the BGMI Showdown
