GodLike missed the BGMS finals by three points, and 16 other teams start in Delhi on Friday
The BGMI Masters Series Season 5 Grand Finals run from 4 to 6 September with a crore on the line, and India’s best-known BGMI org will be watching it.

The BGMI Masters Series Season 5 reaches its Grand Finals in Delhi on Friday, three days and up to 18 matches to settle a prize pool of a little over a crore. Sixteen teams are in. GodLike Esports are not.
Thirteenth, then thirteenth again
GodLike were one of two Indian sides at the PUBG Mobile World Cup this year, and they came third in Group B to reach the Grand Finals there. They finished 13th in that final, on 84 points, with one Chicken Dinner. They came back, entered the BGMS playoffs, and finished 13th again on 122 points. The top 10 went through. Vasista Esports were the nearest miss, 11th on 125 and seven points behind Reckoning Esports in the last qualifying place. GodLike were three points further back again.
Orangutan, India’s other representative at the World Cup, did make it. They came eighth in the playoffs with 144 points and one Chicken Dinner, which is not a run anyone will remember but is enough.
Who got there and how
Six teams skipped the playoffs entirely by finishing top of the Super Weekend leaderboard. Team Tamilas led that table on 460 points, with Elite Nova, Team Soul, Nebula Esports, Gladiators Esports and Myth alongside them. Myth and Genesis both ended that stage on 391 points, and only Myth took the direct seat.
Genesis took the long road instead and came fifth in the playoffs on 167 points with 116 eliminations. Team Outrage topped that stage on 226 with four Chicken Dinners, Rapid Chaos were second on 208, and 8Bit third on 198. Wyld Fangs, 7Gods, Apex Gaming, Reckoning and Revenant XSpark filled the rest of the ten.
The Smash Rule decides day three
Days one and two are ordinary BGMI scoring, six matches a day, first one at 4pm IST. Day three is where the format changes. The match point threshold is set at whatever the leader has plus 20, and once a team crosses it they can only be champion by winning a match outright with a Chicken Dinner. If nobody manages that by the 18th match, the points table decides it.
It is a rule that rewards a team good enough to build a lead and then close it out with one dominant game, which is not the same skill as accumulating placement points for three days.
