India sends two teams to a PUBG Mobile World Cup for the first time. GodLike Esports and Orangutan open on separate days in Paris, with 3.025 million dollars in the pot.

Thirty-two teams start the PUBG Mobile World Cup at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles on Thursday, playing for a prize pool of 3.025 million dollars over 11 days. Two of them are Indian. GodLike Esports and Orangutan both made it through, and India has never had more than one team here before.
The format, and where the Indian teams land
The 32 teams are split into two groups of 16, and each group plays 12 matches across two days. The top five in each group go straight to the Grand Finals. Sixth to 13th drop into a Survival Stage, and the bottom three in each group are out after two days.
Orangutan are in Group A, which plays on 6 and 7 August. GodLike are in Group B, on 8 and 9 August. The two Indian teams will not meet until the Survival Stage or the Grand Finals, assuming both get that far.
The Survival Stage runs on 11 and 12 August, 16 teams playing another 12 matches for six remaining Grand Final places. The Grand Finals are on 14, 15 and 16 August, with 16 teams and up to 18 matches. The last day uses the Smash Rule, where a points threshold is set after match 12 and the first team to win a match once it has crossed that threshold takes the title outright.
How the two got there
GodLike qualified by winning the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series in Jaipur in June, which carried a direct slot. Orangutan got the other place by finishing top of the Krafton India Esports points table.
India’s overall player presence in Paris has grown this year too, in step with its doubled team count. Last year in Riyadh, India had one team, AxTMG, out of a 24-team field. The tournament has grown to 32 and India’s share of it has doubled.
When to watch from India
Each competition day runs six matches, starting at 4:30pm IST and running into the evening. That is an unusually friendly window for Indian viewers of a European event, and there are dedicated South Asia and India broadcasts alongside the English stream.
The Grand Finals alone carry 1.7 million dollars in prize money, with a bonus reserved for the tournament MVP on top. Money is spread well down the table too, with 574,000 dollars paid out in each group at the group stage alone.
The tournament was supposed to be in Riyadh. Organisers moved it to Paris on 20 May, along with the rest of the Esports World Cup it sits inside. GodLike arrive as the reigning BMPS champions and Orangutan as the team that topped India’s rankings. Whether either converts that into a run through the Survival Stage is the question the next 11 days answer.
