Genesis win BGMS Week 1, and the team with the most chicken dinners finished seventh
Revenant XSpark won three matches in League Week 1, more than anyone else in the field. They ended up seventh. Team Apex Gaming won none and finished third.

League Week 1 of BGMS Season 5 finished on Thursday, and the team that won the most matches in it is seventh. Revenant XSpark took three chicken dinners across the week, more than any of the other 23 teams, and ended on 180 points. Team Apex Gaming won nothing at all and finished third on 205.
That is not a glitch in the table. It is how battle royale scoring works, and it is worth understanding before the Bounty Weekend starts today.
The final week one table
Genesis Esports topped it on 230 points with two match wins. Team Outrage were second on 211, also with two. Apex third on 205 with none, iQOO 8Bit fourth on 193. Revenant sit seventh, level on 180 with Epigrotive Gaming.
The gap between Revenant’s three wins and their seventh place is the difference between winning a match and surviving in every other one. A chicken dinner is worth a fixed number of points on top of whatever a team collects for placement and kills. Win three and lose your last squad member early in the other fifteen, and you finish behind a side like Apex that never won but was alive at the end of nearly every game.
Genesis are the more interesting case. After day three they were third on 157 points, six matches behind the leaders in the schedule. They played those six on Thursday and picked up 73 points, which was enough to go past Outrage and take the week.
Day one told you almost nothing
We wrote on day one that Revenant’s lead was not what it looked like. They had 89 points and two chicken dinners at the top of the standings, but their group had played six matches and most of the field had played three. Once the schedule evened out, they slid to seventh without playing badly.
Anyone reading a BGMI league table before every team has played the same number of games is reading a table of who has had more chances to score, which is the trap most of these tournaments set in their opening days.
What happens now
The top 16 from Week 1 go into the Bounty Weekend, which runs from today to Sunday: 18 matches over three days, six a day. The six teams who come out on top of that go straight to Super Weekend 1 from 21 to 23 August. The other ten drop back into League Week 2 from 17 to 20 August and get another route through.
Teams placed 17th to 22nd in Week 1 went directly to League Week 2. The bottom two are out of the tournament.
The two teams who have not played yet
GodLike Esports and Orangutan have not played a single BGMS match, and they are not in any of this. Both are in Paris for the PUBG Mobile World Cup Grand Finals, which run from today to Sunday, the same three days as the Bounty Weekend, with 16 teams and a prize pool of $3.025 million. India has never sent two teams to a PMWC Grand Final before.
They come in at Super Weekend 1 on 21 August, straight into the stage everyone else is fighting to reach, which takes the BGMS field to 26. Whether that is fair depends on how you feel about a world championship being worth more than four days of league play. It is also the only arrangement that was ever possible with these dates.
