Rosters that were locked since October 2025 are now up for grabs. The BGMI transfer window opened on April 1, just days after Team Soul were crowned BGIS 2026 champions in Chennai, and the Indian mobile esports scene has already seen a flurry of moves that could reshape the competition heading into BMPS 2026.
Sinewy wipe the slate clean
The most dramatic move so far belongs to Sinewy Esports, who released their entire roster and listed four open slots on the Krafton India Esports dashboard. A full rebuild before a major tournament is a bold call, but Sinewy clearly felt their previous squad had hit a ceiling. Whether they can recruit a competitive five in time for BMPS 2026 remains the biggest question mark of the window so far.
Madkings shuffle while Meta Ninza hold steady
Madkings moved on Day 1, releasing Syrax and Pro while confirming Shadow, Clutchgod and Reaper in the active squad. It looks like a targeted tweak rather than a wholesale overhaul, with the core of the team still in place. Meta Ninza have taken a similar approach, retaining Fierce and Apollo while actively scouting for the remaining roster spots.
Jonathan's shadow looms over GodLike
The biggest story of the window remains Jonathan's reported split from GodLike Esports. Reports from late March suggested that India's most recognisable BGMI player has registered a new entity, Amaral Esports Pvt Ltd, and plans to lead an independent team ahead of BMPS 2026. GodLike have not confirmed the departure, but the silence from both sides has done little to quiet the speculation. If Jonathan does walk, GodLike will need to replace a player who has been central to their identity since the early days of competitive BGMI in India.
What the window means for the wider scene
Outside of Team Soul and Orangutan, almost every team in the competitive BGMI circuit is expected to make changes during this window. The BGIS 2026 Grand Finals provided a clear performance benchmark for organisations to assess their squads, and the results were not kind to several established names. Community events scheduled throughout April, run by organisers like Nodwin Gaming, Skyesports, Loco and BattleX, will give newly assembled rosters their first chance to gel before the stakes rise again.
The transfer window typically stays open for around 30 days, after which rosters lock for six months. Teams that get their recruitment right during this stretch will carry a real advantage when BMPS 2026 begins.
