Tanzid’s unbeaten 66 seals a T20I series win for Bangladesh in Zimbabwe

Bangladesh left it late in Bulawayo but got the job done, chasing down 144 with two balls to spare to beat Zimbabwe by four wickets and take the three-match T20I series 2-1. Having lost the opener, the visitors won the two that mattered most to claim their first T20I series win of 2026.

Tanzid holds the chase together

The night belonged to Tanzid Hasan, who anchored the chase with an unbeaten 66 off 58 balls and steered Bangladesh through a chase that kept threatening to slip away. It was his 13th T20I fifty, and it capped a series in which he made 140 runs, enough to be named player of the match and player of the series. Around him wickets fell at awkward moments, but Tanzid stayed put, and Mahedi Hasan saw it home with a cool 4 not out at the death.

Chasing 144 should be routine at this level, yet Bangladesh made hard work of it, losing six wickets and needing until the final over to get across the line. Brad Evans kept Zimbabwe interested with 2 for 26, and for long stretches the home side looked like they might defend a modest total. In the end the batting depth Bangladesh have been searching for held firm when it counted.

Zimbabwe left to rue a flat middle order

Zimbabwe posted 143 for 7 after being asked to bat, and the innings never really took off. Their middle order could not build on the platform, and a total that felt 15 or 20 runs light proved exactly that. Batting first and setting a target had worked for them in the opener, but this time there was not enough on the board to squeeze the chase.

The series win offers Bangladesh a lift after a tour that had given them little to shout about, and it hands Zimbabwe another lesson in closing out matches they had within reach. Both sides now turn the page, with Zimbabwe soon welcoming a young India side to Harare.
