Pollard walked off to a standing ovation, and Trinbago are a loss from going out
Kieron Pollard made 41 before a diving catch in the 18th over ended it, and the Queen’s Park Oval crowd stood up. Antigua and Barbuda Falcons won by eight runs to stay top of the CPL table.

Kieron Pollard holed out to deep midwicket in the 18th over at Queen’s Park Oval and Jayden Seales dived forward to hold it. Pollard raised both arms as he walked off, and his own crowd stood up. Last September he was Player of the Series as Trinbago Knight Riders won the Caribbean Premier League. Overnight, he left the field with his team a loss away from being knocked out.
Eight runs short, again
Antigua and Barbuda Falcons made 183 for 4 and TKR finished on 175 for 7. Pollard had been batting through an injury and made 41 off 36, sharing 55 for the sixth wicket with Joshua Da Silva to keep the chase alive. His dismissal left 36 needed off 15, and Joshua James conceded three off the rest of that over.
Shamar Springer went for nine in the 19th, so TKR needed 26 off the last. James started it with a single and two dots. Da Silva then hit 6, 4 and 6, which was worth watching and not worth much: he finished 54 not out off 31 balls and TKR lost by eight runs. Three of their six defeats this season have come by nine runs or fewer.
Cornwall did the damage at both ends
Rahkeem Cornwall was player of the match for 20 off seven balls and 3 for 17. Opening the batting he took four fours in a row off Akeal Hosein, added another off Usman Tariq, then got an inside edge onto his stumps off Tariq. That was it for him with the bat, seven balls in all.
The bowling mattered more. All three of his wickets were left-handers: Colin Munro skied one to mid-on, Sunil Narine went to long-off two balls later in the same over, and Pooran fell for 22 near the end of the powerplay. TKR were 63 for 4 after six overs and never got the innings back on its feet. Cornwall’s three overs cost 17.
Nawaz did the rest
The Falcons had their own wobble, 62 for 3 in the 10th over, by which point Hasan Nawaz had already been in for three overs. He made 76 off 48 with nine fours and three sixes. He and Moeen Ali put on 108 off 61 balls for the fourth wicket, and Nawaz was dropped on 36 along the way. TKR also missed two run-out chances, both with Moeen at the throwing end. Moeen finished 32 not out.
Where this leaves both teams
The Falcons stay top on 11 points from nine games, though their net run rate of minus 0.267 is the worst of anyone in the top four and Guyana Amazon Warriors have won all four of theirs with a net run rate nearly three runs better. Top spot is not as comfortable as the table makes it look.
TKR sit sixth of seven on four points, with two wins from eight and three defeats in a row. They have two games left, against Barbados Tridents and Guyana, and need both plus help. For the defending champions, who won a fifth title in September 2025, it has been a strange season.
As for Pollard, nothing has been announced. He is 39, he has been in this league since its first season in 2013, and he now coaches Mumbai Indians’ batters in the IPL rather than playing in it. The reaction inside the ground suggested people there think they have seen the last of him at home in a TKR shirt. He has not said so himself, and TKR still have two matches to play.
