Pakistan made 55 in 18.1 overs, and India’s three spinners took eight of the wickets for 21
India bowled Pakistan out for 55 in Dubai, the lowest total Pakistan have made in a women’s T20I, and chased it inside nine overs to finish top of Group A.

Pakistan won the toss in Dubai on Saturday night and batted. Their openers put on 27 inside five overs and looked untroubled. The remaining nine wickets produced 28 runs between them.
Pakistan were bowled out for 55 in the 19th over. India knocked the runs off in 8.4 and won by seven wickets with 68 balls to spare. It is the lowest total Pakistan have made in a women’s T20I, beating the 56 they managed against New Zealand at the same ground in 2024.
Twenty-seven for none, then 29 for three
Muneeba Ali and Shawaal Zulfiqar batted through four and a half overs without alarm. Zulfiqar hit three fours in her 14 off 14. Muneeba made 13 off 15. Then Shafali Verma came on with her off-spin and bowled Muneeba, and the innings fell apart in the space of nine balls.
Shree Charani took the next two. Gull Feroza was caught by Nandani Sharma for a four-ball duck, and Zulfiqar was leg before in the sixth over. Pakistan had gone from 27 without loss to 29 for three. By the ninth over they were 35 for six, with Fatima Sana, the captain, out lbw to Deepti Sharma for nought off seven balls.
The last four wickets took another nine overs, which says most of what needs saying about the middle of the innings. Umm-e-Hani faced 18 balls for six runs. Tuba Hassan was last out, stumped by Richa Ghosh off Deepti, for nine off 16. Pakistan’s extras column read three.
Three spinners, 11.1 overs, 21 runs
Charani, the left-arm spinner, finished with three for seven from her four overs and took the player of the match award. Prema Rawat also took three, for nine. Deepti had two for five from 3.1 overs before the innings ended in her hands. Add those three spells together and it comes to 11.1 overs, 21 runs and eight wickets.
The two seamers barely got a look in. Kranti Gaud and Nandani Sharma bowled two overs each and went wicketless, which on a night like this counts as bad luck rather than bad bowling. Shafali’s three overs cost 10 and brought the opening wicket.
India still lost three chasing 56
Fatima Sana refused to let the target vanish quietly. Shafali hit a four and a six in her 12 off six balls and then drove one straight back at the bowler. Pratika Rawal edged behind for four off three. Smriti Mandhana was trapped in front for nine in the fourth over, and India were 29 for three, barely halfway home.
Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti finished it from there without any drama. Harmanpreet was 18 not out off 18, Deepti 12 not out off 14. Fatima’s three for 17 was the one thing Pakistan will want to remember from the evening.
Three group games, three sides bowled out
India have now dismissed every opponent they have faced in this tournament. Thailand were bowled out for 65 on 30 August, Hong Kong for 56 on 3 September, Pakistan for 55 on Saturday. Not one of the three lasted the full 20 overs.
That is three wins from three, six points and a net run rate of 5.471, which puts India top of Group A with the group stage behind them. They play the first semi-final on Thursday 10 September at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, an 8pm start in India, against whoever finishes second in Group B.
Pakistan are not out of it yet. They have two points from two matches and face Hong Kong on Monday, and a win there would take them to four points and second place in the group. On this evidence, the batting needs a different look first.
