Mohammad Nabi took 4 for 17 at 41, and Guyana are the first team into the CPL playoffs
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots managed 128 at Providence, and it was never going to be enough against a side that has not lost all tournament.

Mohammad Nabi bowled four overs for 17 runs and took four wickets. Then, with Guyana Amazon Warriors wobbling at 78 for 3, he walked out and finished the job with 25 not out. The Warriors beat St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by seven wickets at Providence overnight on 6 September, and with that they became the first team through to the CPL 2026 playoffs.
Six matches, six wins, and four league games still to come. Nabi took the match award, at 41.
Athanaze held on, nobody else did
The Patriots won the toss and batted. Kyle Mayers came out swinging and made 20 from 12 balls before he went, and Alick Athanaze settled in for something more considered, 52 from 39, which for a while gave the innings a shape.
Then Nabi came on. His four overs cost 17 and brought four wickets, and Romario Shepherd cleaned up around him with 3 for 16 from three. The Patriots were bowled out for 128 with four balls of the innings unused.
The chase that nearly got interesting
Rahmanullah Gurbaz did what Gurbaz does, 39 from 25, before Wanindu Hasaranga bowled him. Navin Bidaisee, the Trinidadian legspinner who spent the build-up to this season training at B Arun’s academy in Chennai, then took two for 20, and suddenly the Warriors were 78 for 3 with Shimron Hetmyer gone for 1 and Mavendra Dindyal for 17.
That was as close as the Patriots got. Shai Hope, who had been ticking along without much fuss, finished on 38 not out from 44 balls, and Nabi joined him for an unbroken stand of 54. The winning runs came with nine balls to spare.
Guyana have been here before
Warriors supporters will recognise the feeling and will not entirely trust it. This is a franchise that has reached eight CPL finals and won one. They lost in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2019, beat Trinbago Knight Riders by nine wickets at Providence in 2023 to finally get their hands on the thing, and then lost the next two: to Saint Lucia Kings by six wickets in 2024, and to Trinbago by three wickets in 2025.
Dominating a league stage, in other words, has never been the difficult part. What they have now is 12 points from six games and a month of cricket in which to work out how to convert it. The Patriots go into their last league match on seven points from nine, fifth, and unable to reach more than nine.
