India’s Under-19s beat Australia by six wickets in Rajkot to finish the Youth ODI series 3-0, with their captain unbeaten from the first ball of the chase to the last.

Lakshya Raichandani had 26 runs from the first two matches of this series. Wednesday’s game in Rajkot was the one where the India Under-19 captain batted through a chase, and he was still there when it finished, on 110 not out from 106 balls.
India beat Australia Under-19s by six wickets with 52 balls to spare and took the three-match Youth ODI series 3-0. All three games were played in Rajkot. The first was cut to 20 overs a side by rain and India won it by seven runs. The second, on Monday, went their way by more than 100.
Hollick carries Australia, then the tail goes
Australia won the toss and batted, and for 25 overs Zed Hollick made that look like the right call. The left-hander hit 87 from 88 balls with 12 fours. When he was caught off Aryan Savsani, a debutant, in the 26th over, Australia were 126 for 2 and he had made 87 of those runs.
Neel Patel then did the slow work. His 51 took 71 balls and contained one four, and it got Australia to 196 before Mohit Ulva had him caught in the 39th over. Blake Cattle added 38 from 31 at the other end. None of it lasted once Chauhan got at the lower order.
Left-arm spinner Manal Chauhan took 3 for 42 from his ten overs, and his dismissal of Eli Brain at 217 for 5 started the slide. Australia lost their last five wickets for 37 runs and were bowled out for 254 with three balls of their innings left. Ulva finished with 3 for 43, taking the last wicket himself.
A chase with no panic in it
Aaryavir Sehwag went after the new ball. He hit five fours in 34 from 31 balls, and the openers had 58 on the board inside eight overs before Jacob Pietz had him caught. VK Vineeth, who made 87 on Monday, managed 10 this time before Spencer Green bowled him.
That brought in Kushagra Ojha, and the stand that decided the match. He and Raichandani added 85 for the third wicket. Ojha made 45 from 53 before Green took him too, and Will Byrom bowled Arjun Rajput for a duck in the next over. India were 175 for 4 in the 32nd over and still needed 80.
Rajat Baghel, the wicketkeeper, took the pressure away. He hit 44 not out from 34 balls with five fours and two sixes, and he and his captain put on an unbroken 80 to finish it early in the 42nd over. Raichandani’s 110 had nine fours and three sixes, and it earned him the player of the match award.
Two Youth Tests next
The teams stay in Rajkot for the first of two four-day Youth Tests, from 27 to 30 September at the same ground. The second is in Ahmedabad from 5 October. Hollick and captain Jack Czosnek both got runs for Australia across the three one-dayers. India still won all three, and the captain who had barely scored in the first two was the one who closed it out.
