De Kock’s 106 was his 10th T20 hundred, and Barbados still lost by six wickets

Quinton de Kock made 106 from 57 balls at Warner Park on Tuesday night, and it was not enough. Barbados Tridents finished on 217 for 4. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots chased 218 down in 19.1 overs, won by six wickets, and left de Kock with the kind of innings that gets replayed all week and decides nothing.
The tenth hundred, and the catch that ended it
It was de Kock’s tenth Twenty20 century, which puts him level with Virat Kohli and David Warner. Eleven fours, six sixes, a strike rate a shade under 186. He was still batting in the 19th over when Naseem Shah pushed through a low full toss outside off stump and de Kock got underneath it, slicing it towards deep cover. Navin Bidaisee moved left, dived full length and held it one-handed.
Charles and Mayers took it away in the powerplay
Chasing 218 usually needs somebody to be ridiculous early on. Johnson Charles was. He and Kyle Mayers put on 112 for the first wicket, 58 of those inside the powerplay, and Charles finished with 78 from 45 balls, six fours and seven sixes among them. Mayers was run out at the non-striker’s end for 29. Charles took the player-of-the-match award.
Sams gave Barbados one last look
Daniel Sams took two wickets in the 18th over, removing Jason Holder for 18 off 11 and Dasun Shanaka for 36 off 22, and for a few minutes the game was live again. It did not last. Andre Fletcher hit 22 not out from eight balls, Wanindu Hasaranga 18 from four, and the Patriots were home with six wickets standing.
Where it leaves the CPL
Holder’s Patriots take a home win over Chris Green’s Tridents into the back half of the group stage, with both sides still chasing a top-four finish. The knockouts begin on 16 September, and all four of them, the final on 20 September included, are at Kensington Oval in Barbados.
