Blake Cattle made two hundreds in Rajkot, and India’s Under-19s still won by an innings
Lakshya Raichandani’s 240 gave India a lead of 277, and Ishan Om and Yashbardhan Chauhan shared all ten second-innings wickets to finish the first Youth Test inside three days.

Blake Cattle made two hundreds in Rajkot. Nobody else in Australia’s Under-19 side got past 59, and India won the first Youth Test by an innings and 48 runs on Tuesday, inside three days.
The gap between the teams was one innings. Lakshya Raichandani made 240 from 281 balls, India reached 494 in reply to 217, and Australia needed 277 just to make India bat again. They were bowled out for 229, with left-arm spinner Ishan Om and captain Yashbardhan Chauhan sharing all ten wickets.
Raichandani’s 240, and a stand of 180 for the ninth wicket
India were not always in control of this game. They were 170 for 2 on the second day when Chauhan and his namesake Manal fell in consecutive balls, and at 293 for 8 the lead was only 76. Raichandani then found a partner in Mohit Ulva, and the two added 180 for the ninth wicket.
Ulva, a debutant batting at ten, hit 92 from 84 balls with ten fours and four sixes. Raichandani was 210 not out at stumps on Monday and added 30 more before Theo Tsingos had him caught by Eli Brain, the first wicket of the morning. His innings had 24 fours and four sixes.
According to SportsTak, nobody had made a double hundred against Australia in a Youth Test before. The previous best against them was Farhan Adil’s 175 for Pakistan in Lahore in 1997. Among Indian batters in Youth Tests, only Pawan Shah’s 282 against Sri Lanka in 2018 is higher.
Raichandani led India to a 3-0 sweep of the Youth ODI series in the same city last week, and finished it with 110 not out in the third game. Yashbardhan Chauhan took over the captaincy for the four-day matches.
Om’s triple-wicket over
Australia’s second innings was effectively over in the 11th over. Om trapped Hayden Barbulovic lbw with its first ball, bowled captain Matthew Lough with its fifth and had Zed Hollick lbw with the next. From 15 without loss, Australia were 17 for 3.
Neel Patel and Cattle put on 60 before Chauhan bowled Patel for 41. In the 26th over Chauhan struck twice more, removing Brain and then wicketkeeper Charlie Henderson first ball, and Australia were 87 for 6.
Cattle kept swinging. His 123 came from 114 balls with 16 fours and four sixes, a much quicker innings than his 102 from 198 balls in the first innings, and he took Australia past 200 before Chauhan bowled him in the 58th over. Chauhan finished with 6 for 75 and eight wickets in the match. Om, who took 5 for 53 in the first innings, had nine. Cattle will not forget this match quickly, for good and bad reasons: 225 runs of his own, and still an innings defeat.
