The Women’s Super Smash is New Zealand’s domestic women’s Twenty20 competition. It began in 2007-08, two seasons after the men’s competition, and six teams take part: Auckland Hearts, Canterbury Magicians, Central Hinds, Northern Brave, Otago Sparks and Wellington Blaze.
Wellington Blaze are the champions. They beat Auckland Hearts by five wickets in the 2025-26 final at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, on 31 January 2026. It was their third title in a row and their second hat-trick, after 2017-18 to 2019-20. It also took them to 10 titles in 19 seasons, well clear of Canterbury Magicians on six.

How the title has moved
Canterbury Magicians won the first edition, when the six teams played each other once and the top side took the title. They won four games and had their match against Otago Sparks abandoned, and they were the only unbeaten team.
A final was added the next season, and Wellington Blaze won it for their first title. They bowled Canterbury out for 123 at the Basin Reserve, and Lucy Doolan, the season’s leading run-scorer, made 63 off 51 balls to see them home by four wickets.
Central Hinds (2009-10), Auckland Hearts (2013-14) and Otago Sparks (2016-17) have one title each. Otherwise the trophy has gone to Wellington or Canterbury every season. Canterbury’s last title came in 2022-23, when they beat Wellington in the final after finishing third in the group.
Wellington have won every title since:
- 2023-24: beat Central Hinds by one run on DLS at Eden Park, Auckland. Wellington made 89 and Rosemary Mair took 4/5 for the Hinds, but they finished on 88/5 in their 17 overs.
- 2024-25: beat Otago Sparks by eight runs at the Basin Reserve, defending 104/8. Hannah Darlington took 4/16.
- 2025-26: chased down Auckland Hearts’ 146/5 with a ball to spare at Hagley Oval. Rebecca Burns made 55, and captain Amelia Kerr finished on 46* off 26 balls.
Women’s Super Smash records

It beat Suzie Bates’ 504 for Otago Sparks the season before, and Anderson capped it with 95 off 62 balls in the final. Amelia Kerr has topped the run charts in two seasons since, with 437 in 2023-24 and 441 in 2024-25.
