Babar Azam has 32 centuries in international cricket — nine in Tests, 20 in ODIs and three in T20 internationals — from 354 matches since his debut in May 2015. That is the figure as of 16 September 2026.
The number has moved slowly of late, and that is the part most pages on this subject miss. Babar scored eight international hundreds in 2022 alone. He has scored four in the four calendar years since.
Babar Azam’s centuries by format
| Format | Matches | Runs | Ave | 100s | 50s | HS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tests | 66 | 4,771 | 42.98 | 9 | 34 | 196 |
| ODIs | 143 | 6,626 | 53.43 | 20 | 38 | 158 |
| T20Is | 145 | 4,596 | 38.94 | 3 | 39 | 122 |
| All international | 354 | 15,993 | 45.30 | 32 | 111 | 196 |
Two of those rows are records for Pakistan. His 20 ODI hundreds are level with Saeed Anwar’s 20, the most any Pakistan batter has made, and Babar is the only one of the two still playing. His three T20I hundreds are the most by a Pakistan batter, ahead of Sahibzada Farhan on two.
Babar Azam’s centuries by year
| Year | Centuries | Runs | Ave |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2015 | 0 | — | — |
| 2016 | 3 | 1,063 | 50.61 |
| 2017 | 4 | 1,408 | 42.66 |
| 2018 | 2 | 1,688 | 49.64 |
| 2019 | 6 | 2,082 | 57.83 |
| 2020 | 2 | 835 | 69.58 |
| 2021 | 3 | 1,760 | 40.93 |
| 2022 | 8 | 2,598 | 54.12 |
| 2023 | 3 | 1,399 | 39.97 |
| 2024 | 0 | 1,168 | 32.44 |
| 2025 | 1 | 1,065 | 33.28 |
| 2026 | 0 | 697 | 41.00 |
Read down the last three rows and the shape is clear. 2024 was the first calendar year since his debut year of 2015 in which Babar did not score an international century, and he has managed one since — 1,168 runs in 2024, 1,065 in 2025 and 697 so far in 2026, all of it at an average in the low thirties rather than the fifties he made his name on.
He is still scoring. The fifties have kept coming: nine in 2024, eight in 2025, six already in 2026. It is the conversion that has stopped.
When was Babar Azam’s last century?
His most recent hundred of any kind is 102 not out from 119 balls against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi on 14 November 2025, made batting second in an ODI.
Before that you have to go back more than two years, to three hundreds in 2023: 101 not out off 58 balls in a T20I against New Zealand at Lahore in April, 107 in an ODI against the same side at Karachi in May, and 151 against Nepal at Multan in August.
Babar Azam’s Test centuries — all nine, and none since 2022
Babar has not scored a Test century since 26 December 2022. All nine came in a four-year window between November 2018 and the end of 2022.
| Score | Opposition | Ground | Date |
|---|---|---|---|
| 127* | New Zealand | Dubai | 24 Nov 2018 |
| 104 | Australia | Brisbane | 21 Nov 2019 |
| 102* | Sri Lanka | Rawalpindi | 11 Dec 2019 |
| 100* | Sri Lanka | Karachi | 19 Dec 2019 |
| 143 | Bangladesh | Rawalpindi | 7 Feb 2020 |
| 196 | Australia | Karachi | 12 Mar 2022 |
| 119 | Sri Lanka | Galle | 16 Jul 2022 |
| 136 | England | Rawalpindi | 1 Dec 2022 |
| 161 | New Zealand | Karachi | 26 Dec 2022 |
The 196 at Karachi is his highest score in any format. It came in the fourth innings of a Test Pakistan were asked to save, off 425 balls across more than ten hours, and it is the innings his reputation rests on.
Where Babar Azam stands among Pakistan’s centurions
Thirty-two international hundreds puts him fourth on Pakistan’s all-time list, and he is the only man in the top six still playing.
| # | Player | Span | Matches | Runs | 100s |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Younis Khan | 2000-2017 | 408 | 17,790 | 41 |
| 2 | Mohammad Yousuf | 1998-2010 | 374 | 17,134 | 39 |
| 3 | Inzamam-ul-Haq | 1991-2007 | 495 | 20,541 | 35 |
| 4 | Babar Azam | 2015-2026 | 354 | 15,993 | 32 |
| 5 | Javed Miandad | 1975-1996 | 357 | 16,213 | 31 |
| 6 | Saeed Anwar | 1989-2003 | 302 | 12,876 | 31 |
Younis Khan’s 41 is the record, and the honest arithmetic is that Babar needs ten more. At the rate of the last four years — four hundreds in four years — that is a long way off. At the rate of 2019 and 2022, when he made six and eight, it is two good seasons. What has not been lacking is runs; what has been lacking is conversion.
Babar Azam and Virat Kohli
The comparison follows Babar everywhere, and on centuries it is not close. Virat Kohli has 85 international hundreds to Babar’s 32. Kohli made his international debut in 2008, seven years before Babar, but the gap is wider than the head start explains.
Where Babar holds his own is the one-day game: 20 ODI hundreds at an average of 53.43 from 143 matches. Kohli has more of everything, though he has batted 629 international innings to Babar’s 398 to get there. If you want the longer version of that argument, we keep a full Kohli versus Babar comparison.
