Asia Cup records: most runs, most wickets, highest scores and biggest totals
Every Asia Cup record in both formats: Jayasuriya 1220 runs, Muralitharan 30 wickets, Kohli 183, Mendis 6/13, and the highest and lowest team totals from 1984 to 2025.

The Asia Cup is the only continental tournament in cricket, and it is the only one that keeps changing format — 14 of its 17 editions have been 50-over tournaments and three have been Twenty20. That means it has two sets of records, and most of the interesting ones have moved in the last four years.

One name appears twice. Virat Kohli holds the highest individual score in both formats of the Asia Cup, set ten years and one format apart.

That is the 50-over list, and it has been settled since 2023. Jayasuriya’s six hundreds are two more than anyone else in the tournament’s history has managed — Sangakkara and Kohli are next on four — and his 1,220 runs came at better than a run a ball.

The Twenty20 list is younger and moves faster. Abhishek Sharma is on it after one tournament: 314 runs in the 2025 Asia Cup at a strike rate of 200, which is the highest by anyone who has faced more than 100 balls in the competition, and it won him player of the tournament.
The two highest scores in the T20 Asia Cup are both 122
Kohli’s 122 not out came off 61 balls against Afghanistan in Dubai in 2022, with 12 fours and six sixes. Babar Hayat’s 122 came off 60 balls with seven sixes, for Hong Kong against Oman in 2016. One is out in front on the record sheet only because it is unbeaten.
Kohli’s other record is the bigger one. His 183 against Pakistan at Mirpur in 2012 — 148 balls, 22 fours — is still the highest score in any Asia Cup match in either format, and India were chasing 330 at the time.

The lowest ODI total is the newest record here. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 50 in 15.2 overs in the 2023 final, Mohammed Siraj took 6 for 21, and India won by 10 wickets.
At the other end, four totals of 350 or more have been made in the Asia Cup and all four are from the 50-over tournament between 2008 and 2023: Pakistan’s 385 for 7, India’s 374 for 4 against Hong Kong in 2008, Sri Lanka’s 357 for 9 against Bangladesh in the same week, and India’s 356 for 2 against Pakistan in 2023. Twenty overs has never produced anything within 140 runs of the first of them.
A note on what counts
The figures above are the records for each format as the Asian Cricket Council’s tournament has been played, and the Twenty20 set includes the qualifying matches staged under the 2016 competition. That is why Hong Kong and Oman appear in lists alongside the Test nations, and it is the reason some published versions of these records differ from each other.
