Brentford sign Jaidon Anthony from Burnley on a four-year deal

Brentford have completed the permanent signing of Jaidon Anthony from Burnley, adding one of the Premier League’s more productive wingers to Keith Andrews’ squad. The 26-year-old has signed a four-year contract, with the club holding an option for a further year.

The fee was not disclosed by either club, though it has been reported at around £15 million, with add-ons that could push it higher. For a player who scored eight goals and set up two more in the top flight last season, it looks like sensible business from a Brentford side that tends to buy well.

From Arsenal’s academy to a Premier League move

Anthony’s route to this point has not been a straight line. Born in Hackney, he spent ten years in Arsenal’s academy before joining Bournemouth in 2016, and it was on the south coast that he broke into senior football. A season-long loan at Leeds United in 2023-24 brought only one league goal in 31 games and ended in playoff heartbreak, Leeds beaten by Southampton in the Championship final at Wembley.

Burnley was where it clicked. On loan in 2024-25 he racked up 15 goal involvements in 43 outings as the Clarets won promotion, finishing second in the Championship on 100 points. Burnley made the move permanent that summer, and Anthony repaid them with a strong first season back in the top flight, featuring in all but one of their league games.

Why Brentford wanted him

Andrews left no doubt about his admiration for the winger. “We’re delighted to be able to sign Jaidon,” the Brentford head coach said. “We’ve been aware of Jaidon’s journey for a long, long time and have always admired him from afar.”

The appeal is easy to see. Anthony is quick, direct and comfortable off either flank, and at 26 he is entering the years when wingers tend to be at their sharpest. Brentford have built a reputation for turning solid Premier League performers into better ones, and a player with his end product fits the profile. For Anthony, it is also a return to London, a few miles from where he grew up.
