Borja Iglesias chips Oblak as Celta steal three points from the Metropolitano

Celta Vigo walked out of the Metropolitano on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid, courtesy of a Borja Iglesias chip that lifted them to within touching distance of next season's European places and handed Diego Simeone's side just their third home defeat of the La Liga campaign.
The goal arrived in the 62nd minute and was the only one Celta needed. Williot Swedberg, the Swedish winger, slid a pass into Iglesias on the left side of the box, and the Spain international did not even break stride. With Jan Oblak charging off his line and a defender closing on his blind side, Iglesias dinked a chip over both of them and watched the ball roll into the empty net behind. It was Celta's first shot on target.
Atletico's home record cracks again
For Simeone, this was a third loss at the Metropolitano in the league this season, after Real Betis and Barcelona's earlier visits. They dominated the ball, looked the more dangerous side for long stretches, and could not put any of their chances away. With three games still to play, Atletico sit fourth on 63 points and are now in a tighter than expected fight with Villarreal for third place behind Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Celta keep their European push alive
For Celta, this was the bigger result. The win moves them to within three points of Real Betis in fifth and ends a two-match losing run on the road. With matchdays running out, Claudio Giraldez's side now go into the final stretch genuinely believing they can sneak into Europe.
Iglesias, the Spain international who has spent half a career being underrated, picked the right night for one of the cleaner finishes you will see in La Liga this season. For Atletico, the awkward run-in continues, with Real Madrid the only team who probably enjoyed Saturday more than Celta.
