Barcelona's late goals at Osasuna leave Real Madrid with one job before El Clasico

Barcelona dragged a result out of El Sadar with two goals inside five minutes from Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, and now sit one slip from Real Madrid away from defending their La Liga title. The 2-1 win in Pamplona on Saturday night was Hansi Flick's side at their most patient, then their most ruthless, and it leaves the table on a fourteen-point gap with four matchdays to go.

Osasuna had spent ninety percent of the night living up to a home record that had cost them only two losses all La Liga season. They had not lost at El Sadar in 10 league outings before this one, and for long stretches it looked like they would extend the run.

Then in the 81st Marcus Rashford swung in a left-side cross and Lewandowski met it with the kind of header he has built a career on, opening the scoring at the back stick. Five minutes later Fermin Lopez slipped a clever pass through to Ferran Torres, who took a touch to set himself and drilled it in with his right foot for 0-2. Torres came off the bench, the substitute punishing the home side once the gaps finally opened up.

Raul Garcia got Osasuna a nervy ending in the 88th, rising to head in an Abel Bretones cross past Joan Garcia, but stoppage time ran out before they could get the equaliser their afternoon almost deserved.

The maths and tonight's window

Barcelona move to 88 points, fourteen clear of Real Madrid with four games left. Anything short of a Real Madrid win at Espanyol on Sunday night and Flick's side are champions for a second successive season without kicking another ball. If Madrid do win at Cornella, the title party gets pushed back to next weekend's Clasico at Camp Nou.

Espanyol, for their part, are still searching for a first win of 2026, which is roughly the worst possible omen for a Real Madrid side that need three points to keep their hopes mathematically alive. The kickoff is at nine local time.

Flick on the brink of a first title at the Camp Nou

If the title is confirmed in the next 48 hours, it will be Flick's second La Liga title since arriving from Bayern, and a second straight for Barcelona after the long stretch in which Real Madrid and Atletico took turns at the title. The cup picture is more open. The league has been settled, in effect, for several weeks. Saturday at El Sadar was the formal closing argument.
