LSG vs GT: afternoon clash in Lucknow

The afternoon fixture pits two sides heading in opposite directions. Lucknow have won two of their three completed matches under Rishabh Pant and head into the weekend on a two-match winning streak after road wins over Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders. Pant's unbeaten 68 off 50 balls against SRH showed the kind of composure LSG need from their captain in tight chases.

Gujarat arrive with just one win from three games. Their only victory came at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where Shubman Gill's 70 and half-centuries from Jos Buttler and Washington Sundar helped them edge Delhi Capitals by a single run. The Titans' top order of Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Buttler has looked dangerous, but their bowling has leaked runs when it mattered most.

LSG have a concern of their own. Left-arm spinner George Linde replaces the injured Wanindu Hasaranga, and while Linde is no slouch, losing their frontline leg-spinner weakens the spin department. Mohammed Shami has been sharp in the powerplay overs, and the Ekana pitch tends to slow down in the second innings, giving spinners and disciplined pace a bigger say as the match wears on.

Gujarat lead the head-to-head 4-3 overall, but LSG have won the last three meetings between the two sides. With the table so tightly packed after the first two weeks, neither team can afford to drop points here.

MI vs RCB: Wankhede under lights

The evening match brings one of the IPL's oldest rivalries back to the Wankhede. Mumbai sit eighth with one win from three matches after consecutive away defeats to Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals left their net run rate deep in the red at -0.715. That opening-day win over KKR, where Rohit Sharma blitzed a 23-ball fifty, feels like a long time ago.

RCB are third with two wins from three. Their only defeat came against unbeaten Rajasthan Royals, who have looked untouchable so far. Tim David's 70 off 25 balls against CSK was the standout innings of the tournament's opening fortnight, with 68 of those runs coming in the death overs alone. Kohli has been in good touch through three matches and remains the anchor around whom RCB's batting revolves.

Mumbai hold a dominant 9-4 record against RCB at the Wankhede, and heavy dew is expected in the second innings, giving the chasing team an edge. Clear skies and temperatures around 26-28 degrees should make conditions comfortable for a packed crowd.

Rohit will need his middle order to fire if Mumbai are to turn their campaign around. Two defeats in a row at this stage can quickly become a spiral, and a loss to the defending champions on home soil would pile serious pressure on the five-time winners.
