Sovereign Esports win inaugural BGMI squad title as College Rivals Season 3 wraps up in Mumbai
A first for squad BGMI at collegiate level
Sovereign Esports wrote themselves into the record books by taking the inaugural BGMI Squad title. The category was added for the first time this season and immediately delivered high-quality competition from campus teams across the country.
In the solo bracket, Ayazuddin, who competes under the name Spark_XT and represents Christian Degree College in Lucknow, made it back-to-back solo titles. Winning once could be called a breakout. Winning twice in front of a packed Mumbai crowd makes him the name to watch in collegiate BGMI heading into the BGIS Grand Finals later this week.
Valorant and EA FC 24 titles decided too
Hyderabad's Parthiv Reddy took the Valorant crown after a strong run through the bracket, while Rohit Abraham from Kerala claimed the EA FC 24 championship. Both players came through from a pool of competitors representing over 85 colleges across 28 cities.
The tournament carried a prize pool of 50 lakh rupees, with Samsung as the title sponsor. College Rivals has grown into India's biggest collegiate esports platform since launching, giving campus gamers a pathway toward professional competition.
Collegiate esports keeps growing
The expansion from two titles in earlier seasons to four this year shows where Indian esports is heading. Campus tournaments used to be small side events. Now they pull in major sponsors, professional production crews and crowds willing to travel across states to compete.
With the BGIS 2026 Grand Finals set for March 27-29 at the Chennai Trade Centre and a 4 crore rupee prize pool on the line, India's competitive BGMI calendar is stacked for the rest of March.
