After being put in to bat, South Africa compiled 187/7 from their 20 overs, setting India a target of 188. The innings gathered momentum through the middle phase, with key contributions ensuring the total moved well beyond the 180-mark. Despite losing wickets at intervals, South Africa maintained a scoring rate above nine runs per over and finished strongly in the closing overs.

India’s bowlers managed seven breakthroughs but were unable to stem the flow of runs during the latter half of the innings, allowing South Africa to build a challenging total on a surface that offered value for shot-making.

In response, India’s chase faltered under sustained pressure. Early wickets disrupted the top order, and the required rate steadily climbed as partnerships failed to develop. South Africa’s bowlers maintained disciplined lines, combining pace and spin to restrict scoring opportunities.

India were eventually bowled out for 111 in 18.5 overs, falling well short of the target. The 76-run margin underscored South Africa’s control throughout the contest and marked one of the more comprehensive victories of the Super 8 stage.

The result strengthens South Africa’s position in the group standings, while India will need a strong response in their remaining fixtures to remain in contention for a semi-final place.
